Dark Fortress, dark cave, dark video

Dark Fortress

Okay, let me ask you a question: Why do all black metal bands make videos that are too “black”? Wouldn’t it be cool if a black metal band made a video that’s set somewhere other than forests, hills and caves? Immortal at least separated themselves from the herd with their (unintentional) humor.

Now you might be asking yourself “Could it be possible that Dark Fortress‘ new video for the song Ylem is actually different”? Guess what — it’s not. It’s literally set in a forest and a cave, and sometimes that setting is replaced by some CGI blur. Then you might say “But at least the cave is beautiful!” to which I reply — It might be, but you don’t get to see much of it in it.

In fact, the entire video looks like it could have been done in my room, with the cave and the forest added with some computer program… The only difference being that I could actually come up with some concepts, other than just standing there and singing about the end of the world. See it for yourself after the jump, and you can also read the singer’s sophisticated explanation of the song if you’re interested (not recommended at all).
