I’ll be honest with you, I forgot to post my Best of 2010 Top 10 yesterday so it’s going to be the first Friday Top 10 on a Saturday!
This list is all about 2010 and the best albums that have been released this year. Make the jump to read what I think.
#10 – Unleashed – As Yggdrasil Trembles
Viking Death from Sweden. Who can dislike that? I can’t, especially because of the song they recorded in German, ‘Wir kapitulieren niemals’. Great song, great album.
#9 – King of Asgard – Fi’mbulvintr
More Viking Metal from Sweden. Former members of Mithotyn and Indungeon got together for this album and created a melodic masterpiece.
#8 – Kataklysm – Heaven’s Venom
I expected a lot from this release because I loved the previous record but it’s not good enough for my Top 3. It at least made #8.
#7 – Iron Maiden – The Final Frontier
Iron Maiden? Only on #7? Yes, it’s a good album but it’s not as good as one could expect. The songs are a bit too long just for the sake of being long.
#6 – Exodus – Exhibit B: The Human Condition
I’ve always had a hard time getting into Exodus. This album kicked my ass though, especially the video/single ‘Downfall’. Thrash Metal at its best.
#5 – Sabaton – Coat of Arms
Sabaton sounds like Sabaton. They’re the Power Metal equivalent to AC/DC. You just know what to expect.
#4 – Witchery – Witchkrieg
This album kicked my ass and left me crippled. Who can dislike an Extreme Metal release released by members of Bloodbath, Marduk, The Haunted and a special guest appeareance by Kerry King? Not me.
#3 – Overkill – Ironbound
Fucking Overkill!
#2 – Jack Slater – Extinction Aftermath
Jack Slater released their Opum Magnus this year. Less Tech, more Groove. This epic album almost made my #1, if it weren’t for…
#1 – Fear Factory – Mechanize
Fear Factory with Gene Hoglan on drums? Instant Eargasm. This album is awesome from start to finish and shits all over the last couple of releases by this band. A true comeback.
