Opeth to enter studio
It’s now been 2 years since Opeth‘s last opus, Watershed, was released, so it only makes sense that the band are making plans to hit the studio in January to record their follow up effort. The band have been around for 20 years now, and in this time, if I could count, I’d be able to tell you this will be their tenth studio album. But unfortunately, I can’t (obviously).
In case you need some re-assuring of the quality of this forthcoming material (but why would you?), then fret no more, as Opeth have described the album as being *insert drum roll*… “good.” Well there you have it. And it’s not like the band is biased or anything either, is it?

Korn, Megadeth & Slayer comment on Grammy nominations
We reported yesterday that Korn, Megadeth and Slayer, among others, have been nominated for Best Metal Performance for this year’s Grammy awards.
Recently, Jonathan Davis of Korn, Shawn Drover of Megadeth and Tom Araya of Slayer, all have commented on their nominations.
Make the jump to read their comments and my comments about their comments.
Slipknot will do Sonisphere
Just one day after Corey said he has no plans for Slipknot, the band has been announced for the Sonisphere festivals.
“We’re looking forward to spending our summer in Europe. This tour is about us and our fans. It’s about celebrating the life of our brother, Paul, and his legacy. The door is neither open nor closed. This tour is about burning down that door. See you this summer.“ said the band while adjusting their masks.
The festival will take place on 8-10 June, 2011 in the U.K., but plans are for the festival to go to the following European countries, as well: Bulgaria, Poland, Greece, Turkey, Italy, Spain, France, Sweden, The Czech Republic, Finland and Switzerland. More details soon to come on the official site.
European maggots rejoice. Slipknot fans too.
Interview: Mark “Barney” Greenway (Napalm Death)
Napalm Death recently stopped their tour just so Barney could do an interview with Dose of Metal. That’s how awesome we are.
Well not really (they didn’t stop the tour, but we’re still pretty awesome), we just caught him in a good time (for us, as he was sick), and he was kind enough to answer our questions. So, make the jump, and read what The Pacifier-al-kabob-urath had to say.
Sepultura jumping on the bandwagon
Metallica, Machine Head, Judas Priest – just an example of bands that have played classic albums in its entirety. Sepultura have decided to join the trend and perform their best album, “Arise“, from start to finish on December 11/2010 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
I’m actually not one of the whiners that bitches Sepultura need to stop making albums unless Max is back in the band( not interested for Roots Part 2, no thank you), but I think it would make sense to do this type of show with the Cavalera’s. Agree?
