Damned cables
It’s Christmas Eve, why are you reading this and not out getting drunk instead? Then again, a better question might be why am I writing this when I could be out getting drunk? What can I say, I’m dedicated to my work (*cough* I have no friends).
So on to the news. Joe Trohman of The Damned Things recently talked to DiMarzio, Inc. — the company that manufactures magnetic pickups for electric guitars — about the making of the debut The Damned Things album, Ironiclast, and his DiMarzio pickups and cables. Watch the video after the jump.
Exciting stuff? Nah not really. On second thoughts you would be better off just getting drunk instead.
Duff McKagan blows
Quite literally so. Apparently the former Guns N’ Roses bass player underwent a successful sinus surgery on December 14, which was due to his heavy cocaine use and consequential sinus damage received back in the day his former band was rich enough to buy drugs.
Luckily (for his health), Velvet Revolver can’t afford to get high, but he did admit that he probably snorted his body weight in cocaine before he became sober (which was 14 years ago). Ah, the good old, snort your body weight game… Don’t know how it’s played? 1) Get in a band; 2) Make money; 3) Spend as much time as you can snorting cocaine; 4) Make some mediocre music in the meantime which will secure you more money for drug use 5) As you go on, you lose your body weight, which makes it easier to beat the game; and finally, 6) Leave Guns N’ Roses, or optionally, write a book on how you beat your addiction and blame your bandmates and the evil rock n’ roll lifestyle for becoming a junkie.
Def(Metal)tones
German technical Death Metallers, War From a Harlots Mouth have posted a cover version of Deftones’ Hexagram on their Facebook page.
Check it out at the link above. That’s if Death Metal bands you’ve never heard of, covering 90’s Nu-Metal bands, is your thing. I’d check it out myself, but it seems googling “War From a Harlots Mouth” brings up porn, so you know, I’m a bit busy now…
Stone Sour Hesitate
Christmas comes early for Pop fans this year. The Backstreet Boys Stone Sour, great fans of one dimentions, have released their latest smooshy ballad, titled Hesitate.
You can check out the brand new video for the track after the jump.
Dimmu Borgir post Dimmu Borgir
Dimmu Borgir have posted a new video for their imaginatively titled song, Dimmu Borgir (guess they’ve run out of ideas).
Is the video any good? I have no idea, I didn’t watch it, and no it has nothing to do with my dislike for gothic drag queens attempting to write music. No, it seems that the video is blocked in my country. If you’re from a country that doesn’t suck, try watching the video after the jump.
