Dose of Metal can see into the future, that’s why we’re bringing you the big Chimaira announcement Mark hinted yesterday, before it even happened. Of course, I’m just kidding, but being the no-lifer has its benefits — I’ll be “live blogging” the stream and the most interesting details, and updating this post. Join me if you’re too lazy to watch it yourself – it should start at 9 pm EST.
To clarify one thing: three members have left Chimaira, not everyone except Mark, but I figure he’ll be streaming tonight, that’s why the blurry faces. Now, make the jump and hit the refresh button.
9:02 I’m late. That’s a surprise.
9:08 Haha. Chris left the band via email. Btw Mark is talking, Rob and Matt are there as well.
9:10 I’m fucking hungry.
9:11 New lineup announced by Mark. I didn’t catch all the names, bear with me, I wrote down the bands they’re in. Good thing I didn’t leave the room.
9:13 Rob talks about Six Feet Under and how it came about to be. Promises they won’t leave the band nor jump the ship. Aaaw cute.
9:15 “Someone said Matt looks homeless.” True.
9:19 They’re answering the questions now. Bits about a few tour dates and their new label.
9:23 Lots of clean vocals on the album apparently. Few guests as well.
9:30 I’m trying to ask a question, but I don’t have a UStream account. Fail.
9:35 It’s over. I’ll be posting info regarding the new lineup in a bit.
9:37 The guys did an encore in a live stream, and said one final bye. Haha.
New band members:
Drums: Austin D’Amond (Bleed The Sky, The Elite). The Elite is Rob Arnold’s side project.
Bass: Emil Werstler (Daath). Emil has taken the touring spot when Jim LaMarca left, and now he has joined the band full time.
Keyboards/Programming: Sean Zatorsky (Daath). The vocalist from Daath will now be doing all the keyboards work.
That’s it. A few other bits of info: There are 12 songs written for the album, and half of it was rewritten after Chris and Andols left. Also, their original bass player, Andrew Ermlick, was in the chatroom. Also, regarding the tour, they will have a few shows in May, and will be looking for a proper tour in October (according to some people in the chat, I missed the exact dates myself).
Had a fun time? What do you think of the new lineup? I think it’s pretty cool, especially that Daath, Six Feet Under and Chimaira can now cut expenses when touring together.
