Dave Mustaine is sneaky
Dave Mustaine of Megadave is being subtle on Facebook.
“I just went through a couple weeks of hell arranging something special for you this summer. Stay tuned! Because we are going to be having some Big shows coming up.” paid Dave some kid to write on his official Facebook page.
Read it here.
People are, of course, speculating about a Big Four Tour in the U.S. Since the ‘big’ has a capital B in it, Dave might be hinting at that with subtlety. We wouldn’t be surprised considering how well the DVD sold. Oh btw, we’re also giving one away, motherfuckers, enter now before it’s too late.
New supergroup isn't super
Hank Von Helvete of Turbonegro is in a new supergroup. And by supergroup I mean mediocregroup. Together with Anders Odden of Satyricon, Tim Skold of Marilyn Manson, David Husvik of Extol and Audun Stegel of Apotygma Berzerk, the band is called Doctor Midnight And The Mercy Cult and will make their debut live show at the Slottsfjell Festival next year.
I hate the word ‘supergroup’ because most of the time these bands are anything but super. They’re just groups. I haven’t heard of half this lineup so how is this a supergroup?
Anyway, if you happen to be in Tønsberg, Norway next July between the 14th and 16th, check these guys out live. Their debut album is apparently done, too. Snooze.
Like father, like son.
Jürgen “J.R.” Blackmore, son of Ritchie Blackmore, joined Deep Purple on stage recently to play the hardest song in the world: Smoke on the Water.
This happened on the 27th of November in Hamburg, Germany (we bet Jürgen loves hamburgers, so nice choice of venue) and you can view some footage of it after the jump.
Scott Rockenfield will take you back in time
Queensrÿche drummer Scott Rockenfield (nice surname) launched a new site called “Hollywood Loops.” Now, aside from the fact that the name makes you think of candy or something perverted, it’s actually a site for film and TV soundtrack work, or something.
“Founded by Grammy Award Nominated Film Composer and Queensryche [sic] drummer Scott Rockenfield, our goal is to produce the highest quality Sound Fx and Loop Libraries for use in Film, Television, Trailers, MultiMedia and all other Music Productions.“
Now, all sounds well until you actually visit the site. I’ll pretend not to see that he didn’t even spell his band’s name right, or that he capitalized the second M in ‘multimedia.’ But my God, look at that site. Was it done in ’97? Seriously, Scott, what the hell? Great and professional look, I’m sure Spielberg, Nolan and George Lucas will die to work with you after they see your awesome web 0.5 design.
Slipknot will do Sonisphere
Just one day after Corey said he has no plans for Slipknot, the band has been announced for the Sonisphere festivals.
“We’re looking forward to spending our summer in Europe. This tour is about us and our fans. It’s about celebrating the life of our brother, Paul, and his legacy. The door is neither open nor closed. This tour is about burning down that door. See you this summer.“ said the band while adjusting their masks.
The festival will take place on 8-10 June, 2011 in the U.K., but plans are for the festival to go to the following European countries, as well: Bulgaria, Poland, Greece, Turkey, Italy, Spain, France, Sweden, The Czech Republic, Finland and Switzerland. More details soon to come on the official site.
European maggots rejoice. Slipknot fans too.
