Oh no he didn’t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sepultura guitarist Andreas Kisser has a thing or two to say about Max Cavalera’s evolution as a singer (or lack thereof). I guess being asked about him over and over again, even though he left the band in 1996, can get a brother irritated:
“Soulfly has had so many different formations, so you lose kind of a characteristic sound there. Of course, Max and his vocals is what it is. I mean, he’s been writing the same stuff over and over again. And in that sense I don’t think he has really evolved too much. When working with different musicians all the time it’s kind of hard to have a characteristic sound or try to do something original. And then with Cavalera Conspiracy, it’s weird to think that he can really work songs like that with just like a drummer there. So I don’t really see the partnership that they’re going. It’s just like a bunch of Max songs that have a different drummer. But, you know, it is what it is. “

Oh snap! Ya done did it, son. You just done got Max Cavalera all mad now, ya feel me? Just wait till Max unleashes an all caps rage on yo ass in the press, son… Whaaat?
I have no idea why I’ve gone all street on you, nor do I know if that’s borderline racism (fingers crossed), but yeah, it’s a pretty direct thing to say. I guess playing a few Big Four gigs got Andreas some new-found balls, eh?
When asked about Andreas’ comments, Max Cavalera had no comment. He did utter some noise, but no one understood what he had to say.
Friday Top 10: Most read DoM articles
It’s our birthday tomorrow, that means we’ll be exactly 1 year old. So what to do for a Top 10 other than list our 10 most read articles?
It’s pretty appropriate, because a lot of the articles in this top are actually ‘Friday Top 10s,’ which is pretty surprising considering how dumb we are.
Anyway, if you ever wondered what our readers like, this is the most interesting article that you will read tonight. If you are a sensible person with a decent taste in blogging, what the fuck are you doing here?
This top was based on our stats from September 2010 to today, and as a bonus, I’ve included 10 runner-ups — This is basically a Top 20.
So yeah, make the jump and let’s go!
Interview: Maddox
Many of you may be wondering why a metal site would choose to interview someone like Maddox, since he’s not a musician. The photo above answers all your questions. Maddox (on the left) is punching a The Black Dahlia Murder fan. If that doesn’t give him enough credibility, I don’t know what will.
Maddox is the man behind The Best Page in The Universe (second best, in our opinion, but we’re probably biased), a site I’ve been reading for over a decade. He’s been a huge influence on my writing and my sense of humor, and apparently I got him into Swashbuckle.
This may not be your typical DoM interview, but it brought a few metalhead pirates together — my life is complete.
Make the jump and find out what metal Maddox listens to, whether or not he’ll ever consider including us in his future books, and what suggestions he has for our site’s design.
Metalheadlines: Nostalgia edition
Nightwish (pictured above, even though I have no idea if that’s the current lineup — nor do I care to find out) are filmmakers now, or something. They’re putting together a movie named ‘Imaginaerum’ and an album of the same name. It will be directed by some guy named… Wait, what’s the point? Just read the full article and spare me from having to write any other details, jeez. The second dude from the left does kinda look like Jake Gyllenhaal though, if I’m honest.
Full Metal Jackie interviewed none other than Scott Ian of Anthrax on her show. Blabbermouth has the audio right here, so you can give it a listen by going to their site, cause they actually have information and content, unlike some other metal sites I could mention. We do have longer dicks, of that I’m sure.
Rage will enter the studio in October. Alex doesn’t care in September, nor will he care in October, either.
Dream Theater will tour Europe with some band called Periphery. And I care about this because…? Oh well, dates after the jump.
Grave have some footage online. By footage I mean two YouTube clips. Do you want to watch them? Me neither, but I will embed them after the jump, just to pretend I’m actually doing something on this stupid site.
Kyuss Lives! is the band Kyuss but without its most well-known member: Josh Homme. For some reason, they make music like that, and Brant Bjork spoke to some site about something and blah blah blah, read the interview here. This may seem lazy writing, but at least it’s honest.
Trivium have some footage from their tour. The footage is online. On YouTube. Is it embedded here? Of course. Why? No idea, but you can make the jump if that’s your cup of tea. I liked the band better when they were called Metallica though.
Daily Dose Of Metal: Annihilator
I kinda jokes about Jeff Waters below, so it’s only fair that I should treat you all to ‘King Of The Hill.’
I hope I am forgiven, metal sons.
