Weak Recap: We be winning, playa

It’s no secret that we’re amazing, and we’re pretty modest about it, too. I mean, the rest of the guys who write for this site aren’t really that awesome, but compared to your boring ass, they’re Gods. I, on the other hand, am absolutely sublime. I truly believe a few decades from now people will be quoting my posts and giving them as examples of literary genius.

So why would I, of all people, interview the other writers for this site? Isn’t it a bit like Mozart interviewing Linkin Park? Yes it is, but unlike Mozart, I am pretty humble. And good looking.

Anyway, make the jump and read my interview with some of metal’s worst writers… Ever.

Robb Flynn wants to be in Metallica

Like I told you a few days ago, everyone seems to be ‘hearting’ Metallica in the press lately. I’m guessing the whole ‘Let’s bash Metallica cause they’re popular’ movement kind of died down, unless you count the peeps commenting on Blabbermouth articles.

Robb Flynn of Machine Head is the latest musician to give praise to the guys. Here’s what he had to say about the band:

They’re amazing. They are a real band – one of the last real bands alive. Lifers. The way they arrange their set and blend their set, it’s the magnitude of everything. To me, it was a dream come true. I’m from the Bay and they were my idols. Just to see how much bigger that big could be and where things could really go.

Read full interview here.

Keep it in your pants, Robb, jeez.

When asked which member of Metallica he’d like to french, Robb had no comment. He just got all red, said ‘tee hee hee!’ and went to the bathroom.

Prepare to be disappointed

I’m not really awaiting this project with much excitement. I don’t know why, it just sounds dull to me. But it has a release date now, and it’s closer than I expected.

Their website, which Simo informed you about, now has “November 1 – North America” and “October 31 – Rest of the world” written on it. I’m no psychic, but I think that means it will be released on October 31 everywhere and a day later in U.S.A. and Canada. Just a hunch of mine.

At least we won’t have to wait long for it, and as the resident Metallica fan, I’ll probably have to review it myself for DoM. Well, time will tell. Hopefully it’s good, but I’m not holding my breath.

Happy birthday Dime!

Today would have been Dimebag’s 45th birthday, had his life not ended tragically 7 years ago. Coincidentally, today is also Fred Durst’s birthday. He was born four years after Dime, but he’s still a very important piece of rock history, just at the other end of the spectrum.

God: It’s August 20, 1966 right now… I think I’m gonna do something special today.
St. Peter: Are you gonna let another priest molest a 10 year old without doing anything about it, even though you are almighty and can pretty much stop pedophilia with one finger snap?
God: What? I do that daily, how would that be specia… Ohh, I see what you did there lmao
St. Peter: LOLZ
God: No, I’m just gonna create the most amazing metal guitarist ever. They don’t know what metal is right now, but they will in a few years… 20 years from now this guy will change metal music forever.
St. Peter: But God, is it really fair to all the other musicians to give all this talent to a single guy in a single music genre?
God: Don’t worry. Four years later I’m gonna give birth to someone who will pretty much shit on everything this guy will have accomplished.

If you were offended by the joke above, don’t worry. I actually don’t believe in God, so that whole conversation couldn’t have happened. Majorlulz.

Dave Mustaine’s favorite Metallica song is…

… Who cares?

But if you do care, check this out:

I had to do a lot of coming to terms with myself in order to listen to Metallica. Before, whenever I heard them, it triggered me in my mind to get up on my soapbox and spit out complaints of what had happened to me. And then once I finally realized, ‘Dave, you’re lucky, you’re blessed, you’re in a great band, you’re in another great band.’ I finally just said, ‘You’re missing it.’

And I remember hearing this song when I was talking to Lars once and telling him this is my favorite song off the ‘Black Record.’ And he goes, ‘Really? Fuck, man.’ It was ‘The Unforgiven’. I liked it because I thought this was really the first time I’ve ever really heard James sing. He had sung before, and he was a great singer. But that was the first time I ever heard him really, really sing.

Actually, Dave did talk about liking Unforgiven a lot, there’s an old interview of him where he’s imitating Lars and you can watch it right here.  Even though I also remembered the video, I have to credit Blabbermouth user IMNoMoreLies for also mentioning it and providing the link, that way I didn’t have to go look for it.
