Nirvana’s Nevermind will turn 20

Nirvana‘s classic album, Nervemind, was released on September 24, 1991. I bet Michael Jackson loved the cover.

Anyway, if you do a little math, it will turn 20 this September. Will someone try to milk the occasion and milk this some more? Of course.

Universal Music Enterprises is pleased to announce the 4-CD/1-DVD Super Deluxe Edition of Nirvana‘s Nevermind available September 19, 2011, in the U.K. and September 20, 2011, in North America. The CDs will include previously unreleased recordings, rarities, B-sides, BBC radio appearances, alternative mixes, rare live recordings and an unreleased concert in its entirety on DVD.

Aww, isn’t that sweet? A lot of shit I don’t care about repackaged so we all buy this thing yet again. And people say record companies are greedy.

Speaking of this album though, read Guido’s Tuesday Trivia about a certain musician being in the video for ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit.’ Although you probably did already, cause you’re a fan of this site and we own.

Anthrax drummer down with technology

Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante is no stranger to technology. Maybe just HD technology. Cause he launched his own motherfucking YouTube channel, yo. And you can see a lot of videos of him (like the one above).

The only problem is that all videos are 360p and look like they’re from the early days of YouTube. A bit of HD content can’t hurt, you know? Hopefully he’ll do that soon.

Anyway, check it out if you have the chance.

Metalheadlines

Clever title, right? Blow me. Let’s talk some headlines, yo:

Slipknot (pictured above) played their first headlining show without Paul Gray two days ago in Berlin. What’s interesting about this performance is that they got their old red suits and old masks for it. Nostalgia alert, if you ever liked them. Make the jump to see a few badly shot videos of the gig. Or don’t. See if I care.

We’ve talked before about Queensrÿche, the band that has two dots over the y, making me go to Wikipedia so I can copy it and paste it here. Their drummer, Marko Syrjälä (argh, here we go again with those dots), talked about the new album and a bunch of other stuff in this interview. Their guitarist,  Mike Wilton, also talked about the new album, but in a statement on their official site. Apparently he’s 100% behind the new record. Gee, what a surprise.

Katatonia have released a free iPhone app. It’s called ‘Katatonia’ (go figure) and you can get it here. The great thing about it is that it lists all the band’s tour dates, so you know which cities to avoid and when. Awesome.

Bruce Dickinson’s son also has a band. And that band will release their debut album in September. Gee, I wonder if who his daddy is played a part in them getting a record deal. Doubtful. In the music industry, it’s not whom you know, it’s simply about talent. Haha,  I crack myself up. Anyways, band is called Rise To Remain, album is called City Of Vultures and you can watch the video of their debut single after the jump.

Machine Head will tour Europe with Bring Me The Horizon, Devildriver and Darkest Hour later this year. In other equally interesting news, I spilled mustard on my favorite shirt today. Dates after the jump.

Gus and Zakk, sitting in a tree…

I usually don’t like posting photos of bad quality on this site, as they ugly it up, but that moment above was way too precious not to use. Aww…

So… Ozzy‘s new guitarist, Gus G., finally met the guy he replaced: Zakk Wylde. That’s pretty much all you need to know. Dave, if you’re reading this, see? You don’t have to hate your replacement if you were fired before he joined your band.

This is what Gus said last year:

No. I haven’t met Zakk, I didn’t contact him. I’ve read all the stuff that he has said about me in the press, and that was very nice of him and that really means a lot to me because if one of my all-time favorite guitar heroes is giving me the thumbs up only gives me more confidence.

So he was a fan and Zakk encouraged him in the press. You know, we gave Zakk a hard time for not showering, but dude seems to be pretty polite and friendly. Unlike other guitarists/vocalists we could mention.

Make the jump for a lot of vids of Zakk talking about his gear and guitar playing.

Gwar frontmonster got interviewed

Gwar look like they just jumped out of a 90s FPS game. If you don’t know what that means, congratulations, it probably means you’re not a virgin.

Anyway, Gwar‘s frontman/monster/whatever-that-is got interviewed and you can watch it above.

What are they talking about? You tell me, I haven’t watched it, I’m very impressionable still.
