Duff wants a job

It’s been established that Duff isn’t loaded. So it’s no surprise that he wants a job.

I’d love to play with Prince. I played on the Iggy Pop record, and he’s my guy… I played with Steve Jones; he’s my guitar hero. Prince is the guy, probably the biggest musical influence all around for me, and I got to meet him one time, but I was so fucking tongue-tied that I didn’t know what to say… But to be able to play on a song or something like that; that would be pretty badass, just on a personal level.

Aww, little Duff got starstruck when meeting Prince. Bless him. Maybe Prince is reading this website and will hire you. After his guitar getting the top spot in our article, I can’t see why he wouldn’t be our fan.

Fingers crossed, yo.

Metallica aren’t selfish

If you thought Metallica are selfish, think again! They aren’t, that’s why they chose ‘Am I Evil’ as the one song to perform together on stage with the other three bands… They’ve performed together again at the Indio gig.

We felt that you’re not going to invite people to come onstage and start playing a Metallica song. That would seem a little selfish, so you want to find a cover song that had some resonance towards what’s going on said Lars Ulrich in an interview.

My personal opinion is that they chose this song as one band already knew it, and it was very easy to learn and practice by the rest. The performance in Sofia last year (which I’ve been to, cause I’m amazing) was really just a DVD moment, I don’t think they thought too much of it in advance… I think they just decided to do something quick for all the cameras, so that was an easy choice. But that’s just me.

I would like to be a little more adventurous and not rely on the same song if there are continued jams. There are other things we can do, and I know that Tom [Araya] from Slayer was talking about [Metallica’s] “The Four Horsemen.” Inviting the other bands to come up and play a Metallica song just doesn’t seem right continued Lars…

Yeah, I’ll say. I don’t think they should perform a Metallica song, but they should do a medley of all four bands’ greatest hits. I’ve suggested this to David Ellefson when I interviewed him, and he seemed keen on the idea. Wouldn’t that be something special that would honor all four bands equally?

You know, I’m not afraid to go anywhere. Maybe we’ll play a Slayer song instead

Read full interview here.

Or maybe you’ll just take my advice and do a medley. Dave could join you guys beforehand just for one or two performances of old Kill Em All songs you wrote together.

I should be fucking hired by these guys, so much productivity in a single blog post. And if you are considering seeing the upcoming Big Four gigs in Europe, read this rant to get motivated.

God bless reviews

Ozzy Osbourne is a very contradicting character. He’s a legend, yet he gets laughed at. He helped create metal music, yet it’s MTV that relaunched his career. He can barely string a sentence together, yet he’s one of the funniest people ever. You can’t just put a label on this guy… Or on his wife… Or on his kids… Sometimes they annoy you, other times they make you laugh, other times they make you go “WTF?”.

One thing is certain, they’re all pretty entertaining to watch, albeit in small doses.

So what about his new documentary, ‘God Bless Ozzy Osbourne‘? Well, I wanna see it. I really do. And it recently got reviewed by Entertainment Weekly, and it’s pretty positive… There’s one word in that review that really makes me want to see this thing… They say the film is honest. That’s very important.

If you can make it to the Tribeca Film Festival, check it out. It’s playing on April 28th and 30th.

My thoughts on: The Big Four tour

Before 2010, the thought of The Big Four touring together was almost a dream. Metal fans would have given their right testicle for something like this to happen. Now, a year after the first Big Four date was announced, people have taken it for granted and they’re just bitching, bitching, bitching and bitching.

I wonder why? Is it because most people are whiny and demanding? Yes.

Having attended two Big Four show last summer, and being the owner of a pretty awesome dick, I think I am more than qualified to comment on this thing and if you don’t like it, you’re probably a Justin Bieber fan.

So make the jump and read my thoughts on this whole thing. Hint: It’s gonna be insightful and amazing.

Young kids and instruments

If there is a Southern Rock jail, this kid is going to it. He butchers a classic Lynyrd Skynyrd song with one of the worst bottleneck guitar I’ve ever heard.

You’re probably wondering if the solo is just as bad… You betcha. He has the original song in the background, so that helps him hide some of the sloppiness, but it’s still a mess.

This is a 10 minute long torture. My ears!!!
