Evergrey are going on tour
A pretty decent tour is happening throughout Canada and the United States this fall. Progressive metal giants Evergrey are headlining the tour and they’re bringing out Swedish metal band Sabaton, video game geeks Powerglove, a band that really wants to sound like Children of Bodom named Black Guard and The Absence, who quite frankly just bore me to death.

Five bands you should give a chance
Hey there! Are you getting sick of bands like Slipknot, As I Lay Dying and System of A Down polluting your ears? If you are, I have five bands you should strongly consider listening to. I’m not necessarily saying you should drop the three bands I just listed (although you really should). I just think it’s always good to continue expanding your musical tastes in metal.
I’m doing this rant because these five bands rock and I feel more people should be listening to them (and others in the genre), so make the jump for these five bands!
King Diamond is doing a lot better
King Diamond is awesome. His style of singing, his lyrical content of horror stories, and constantly making amazing albums is what makes him awesome. What isn’t awesome is what he has gone through as of late. In case you’re unaware, King Diamond was taken to hospital this past November. He had several blockages in his arteries and apparently had quite a bit of heart attacks and needed a triple-bypass surgery.
Less than a week ago, Livia (who happens to be the wife of King Diamond), posted an update for fans curious of his health.
Hi Everyone,
Some of you have been asking for an update on King‘s health, so I thought I’ll write what’s been going on.
King has just finished his Cardiac Rehabilitation program this past Friday, and graduated with flying colors. Thanks to the wonderful people at the rehab center, his exercise regimen helpe him gain a lot of muscle, and start on the road of building up good endurance.
We will start regular exercises now to get the endurance up to nice levels.
The examinations by his heart surgeon and cardiologist revealed that his health is steadily improving, and they all expect him to feel better than ever, 15 years younger than he really is.I am immensely proud of what he has achieved in these short 3 months, stopped smoking entirely, changed diet and doing regular exercise among other things.
I cannot say anything certain about when he will be back working on King Diamond related things, but he is looking forward to finishing the DVDs eventually, and he is most certainly not stopping music.I hope this information was helpful, I can honestly say that his progress has been nothing short of amazing. He is the strongest person I know.
He would also like to extend his huge gratitude to all of you, for your absolutely amazing support. It has really meant a lot to him.
Enjoy his Cardiac Rehabilitation “graduation” picture below.
Cheers and Stay Heavy,
Livia

Interview: Mark Briody (Jag Panzer)
Jag Panzer are a heavy metal band from Colorado Springs, Colorado. Jag Panzer have been constantly releasing great albums since 1984 and just recently released their latest, ‘The Scourge of the Light.‘
Mark Briody, the guitar player, recently agreed to do an interview with me, so check it out after the jump.
The new Kittie album will be so awesome
Remember Kittie? Surprisingly, they’re still around and recently completed their sixth studio album. Morgan Lander, lead vocalist, posted some news on the official Kittie Facebook page, which made me crack a smile.
“Pretty sure we’re done writing for the new album! Fairly positive this is the most pissed-off-sounding record we have ever had!“
Seriously? Surely you can be a little more original than that, Morgan. You know what I would love? Bands coming out saying their new albums aren’t quite as heavy as previous efforts and are calmer and less angry. The only band I can think of that admitted their new album isn’t heavy is The Haunted (who aren’t really good anymore).
Anyway, I have no idea when the album is out. If you’re a fan, just click here for further information.
