Prepare your face to get rocked: Amorphis exclusive interview coming your way
I’ve had the opportunity to attend an Amorphis gig. Mind you, it’s a band that has been one of my favorites for the most part of the last 20 years, so when an opportunity to also interview them arose, I took it with both hands. The gig kicked my ass so hard it still hurts, and the guys were ubercool, so stay tuned to see what happened when our awesomeness collided with theirs.
The video above is a taste of things to come.
The Russian way
From time to time I feel the urge to blow some dust off of some more or less obscure band, just because I’m feeling nostalgic, or perhaps because I think that particular band deserves a bit more exposure. My criteria are, of course, highly questionable and debatable.
In this particular case, one can’t quite use the word “obscure” in describing Aria. They’re Russian and they’re quite past their prime, true, but when one of your songs is a duet with the gruffest, meanest German heavy metal voice this side of the Cold War, Udo Dirkschneider of Accept and U.D.O. fame, you’re one step closer to the light. The video above stands proof.
But, when this already solid piece of a metal ballad is further covered by Rammstein‘s Till Lindemann and Richard Z. Kruspe, you can safely assume you’ve reached some level of celebrity. Right?
Hear the cover below. It doesn’t matter if you already heard it, there’s always room for one more listen:
Some quality growling
Say what you want, but the above video is a pretty good case for Tomi Joutsen, frontman extraordinaire for Amorphis. Yes, I’ll keep it this short.
Balance is everything
Again, I found a band that wasn’t featured, to the extent of my knowledge, on this extremely knowledgeable metal site.
The name is Equilibrium, the country is Germany, the genre… some extreme traditional folk black metal or something along those lines. I find these distinctions between metal genres to be at least fallacious, but that’s just me.
Anyway, the video above is not new, but I hope you enjoy it as I do.
Th1rt3en is drawing nearer…
Damn simultaneous releases, this almost feels like a competition between Metallica and Megadeth now… uh… wait… Scratch that.
Megadeth haven’t gone the full nine yards as their friends (insert sarcastic “ahem” here), and still keep us in suspense regarding how the remaining tracks on the new album will sound. However, for the most eager ones the final artwork, as well as the lyrics for each song and a gallery of HD promo pics of the band, have surfaced here.
Why on earth they appeared on the French page of Roadrunner is anyone’s guess.
