S&BLS: Zakk not so wild anymore
We all know Zakk Wylde. A beer-drinking, motorbike-riding, epic-beard-having, bad-ass motherfucker. Wylde isn’t just his name (his real name is Jeffrey Phillip Wielandt, by the way), he is wild. Or rather, was.
He had to stop drinking, for understandable reasons, a while ago and now he’s going really soft. How? Well, just read the following statement of Zakk about Black Label Society’s upcoming live DVD:
“[We’ll] get a pedal steel player, some background singers, a string quartet…Just go the whole nine yards on this instead of just the full-blown, blow-it-out band. We have two (DVDs) out there with the full-blown band, heavy insanity. This’ll just be something different.”
Full interview here.
I might be the only one but I really enjoyed Metallica’s S&M, and I overall just like metal mixed with piano and/or strings, so I’m actually looking forward to this. Let’s just call it S&BLS for now.
BlackGates release final song of 3-song demo
If you don’t know BlackGates by now, you’ve surely missed out. We’ve interviewed two of the four bandmembers — Jeremy Von Epp and Dan Nelson — and now the band released the final song, called ‘Vacant,’ of their 3-song demo on their Reverbnation page.
Head over there right now or use the player below to listen to all 3 songs.
And now, make the jump for some pictures of the studio, the band recorded their demo at.
WAR! New Sabaton video
What can you expect from a music video of a band that, pretty much, solely sings about war? Well, I won’t answer that question. Just watch the video above.
If you’re wondering why the title of the video says “2010,” don’t worry. It didn’t take us half a year to finally write about it. The song, ‘Screaming Eagles,’ is taken from Sabaton’s 2010 album Coat Of Arms and the video was shot in 2010. You see, it didn’t take us half a year to write about it. It just took them half a year to release it.
It is forgiven as soon as you hit the play button though, because the video — and especially the song — kick massive amounts of ass.
Shining release first music video
I certainly fell in love with Shining’s music over the past couple of months and I can’t wait for the forthcoming 7th album VII: Född Förlorare.
You can watch Shining’s first ever music video, for the song ‘Förtvivlan, Min Arvedel,’ above or the uncensored version of the video after the jump. Be warned, it included scenes of self-mutilation and drug usage.
Shining’s Niklas Kvarforth has the following to say about the video:
“We know we are going to get heavily criticised for some of the scenes but it’s nothing more than you will see as soon as you switch on a television or watch a movie, or walk down a city street come to that. But we’re Shining and it’s always open season on Shining when it comes to people who have neither understood, nor taken the time to try and understand, where the band is coming from”

And now, if you’re not a wuss, watch the uncensored music video of ‘Förtvivlan, Min Arvedel’ after the jump.
Interview: Søren T S Christensen (Die)
Die are a Death Metal band from Denmark who formed in 2005 and released their debut album last year.
Earlier this month, I reviewed Die’s debut album Rise Of The Rotten and gave it a favorable 4,5 skull rating.
I’ve gotten the chance to interview Die’s vocalist Søren Christensen (pictured above, on the left), make the jump to check out the interview.
