Happy Birthday Cliff!
Today would mark Cliff Burton’s 50th birthday, if it wasn’t for that terrible accident that happened 26 years ago. So today is a good opportunity to listen to some oldschool Metallica and hear what Cliff and the guys left behind for the world – killer music.
Happy Birthday Cliff Burton!
Periodic Table of Metal
Somebody shared the above image on my Facebook news feed today and I think it’s pretty cool. I can’t give you a source right now, but feel free to let me know where this picture came from and I’ll update this article with the source.
Either way, it’s a pretty sweet idea and nicely done. If you’re into metal and chemistry, this should give you wet dreams. Click the above image to see the full picture.
Not Ozzy, not Dio, that other guy…
You know that there were more than just two different singers in Black Sabbath over the years, right? I mean, beside Ozzy Osbourne and Ronnie James Dio. No, not Dave Walker. Not Ian Gillan, Dave Donato, Jeff Fenhold, Glenn Hughes or Ray Gillen either. I’m talking about Tony Martin, who actually spent more time with Sabbath than Dio.
He’s often forgotten when people talk about Sabbath, so it kind of made me chuckle when I read the Blabbermouth headline “Former BLACK SABBATH Singer TONY MARTIN: ‘Music Is A Worthless Art These Days’.” Don’t ask, I’m not sure why it made me giggle like a little girl. Maybe because the “Forever alone” meme came right into my mind.
Anyways, you should give this interview a read, which heavymetal.about.com conducted with Martin because it’s pretty interesting. I can’t say that I fully agree with him, but he’s got some interesting points.
Max can write
Who knew? The man who can’t get a decent haircut, can actually write, and he’s writing an autobiography. Is this news or am I so out of touch with what’s going on in Cavaleraland? Honestly, I’m asking you because I didn’t know that before.
All bullshit aside, I imagine this book to be quite interesting, especially concerning Max’s split with Sepultura and his reconciliation with Iggggor. And who knows how often he’ll mention a comeback of the original Sepultura line-up? Well, not the original line-up, but the most well-known one.
So do you want to know some shit about the book? Check out the interview above.
Monday Dose: Exhorder
Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Exhorder again and by accident I found a pro-shot live video of one of my favorite Exhorder tunes, ‘Desecrator.’ The video features the late Frankie Sparcello and the rest of the gang thrashing through this killer song sometime in 2010.
Now do yourself a favor, watch the video above, then listen to your copy of Slaughter In The Vatican and while you do that, read our interview with Kyle Thomas which we did last year.
