Interview: Joakim Broden (Sabaton)
The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of Sabaton is “Through the gates of hell as we make our way to heaven. Through the Nazi lines. Primo victoria!” but that’s not all that members of Sabaton have to say, as we can prove with the following interview with their singer Joakim Brodén.
Make the jump to read about beer, killing Germans and questions by an uninformed Dose of Metal writer.
Video of the Week: Ex Deo
One day, Kataklysm’s vocalist Maurizio Iacono, a Canadian of Italian heritage, probably thought “Hey, these Scandinavian guys sure have a sweet culture. They sing about it all the time. I can do that, too!” and he did. He started a side project called Ex Deo and wrote a concept album about Rome, called ‘Romulus’.
If you’re not familiar with Roman culture, definitely watch the video above, for the titletrack of the album, because it tells the story of Romulus and Remus. Definitely metal, I approve.
Interview: Dan Nelson
I’ve been a fan of Anthrax for a long time now and I supported them even after dumping bandmember after bandmember, but, like many others, I just got sick of the band handling their business that poorly after a while.
I’ve seen them live in 2009 when Dan Nelson was still in the band and he blew me away. Great stage presence, great vocals, the guy was a beast on that very day, so I looked forward to the upcoming album ‘Worship Music,’ but everyone knows what happened next.
Dan Nelson is not with Anthrax anymore but he’s still working hard and soon we’ll all be able to hear him do what he does best: sing like a motherfucker. But first, he gave an interview to your favorite website, Dose of Metal. Read it after the jump.
Dusty Peterson at ECCC
Our dear friend Dusty Peterson was the first artist to be interviewed by Dose of Metal, back in September of last year, just a couple of weeks after we started kicking everyone’s ass. Dusty also helped us in late January, when he helped us write two Friday Top 10’s, one about our best news posts and one about our best articles of 2010.
The Emerald City Comicon, in Seattle, WA, started today and Dusty Peterson will be there so go to his table, where he is showcasing his artworks and tell him DoseOfMetal.com told you to say hi.
And while you’re at it, visit his homepage and check out his bad ass art. And then come back and read more Dose of Metal articles. And then go to Facebook and post about how awesome we and our articles are. And so on. You know the deal.
Weekly Dose of Metal: King of Asgard
Who doesn’t love songs about vikings? Vikings are awesome and that’s why there’s an entire genre dedicated to them: Viking Metal.
One of the biggest Viking Metal bands of its’ time was Mithotyn who split up after their third album in 1999 and Mithotyn guitarist Kalle Beckmann formed King of Asgard in 2008 with fellow former Mithotyn member Karsten Larsson sitting behind the drums.
Here’s a song off their debut album, which was released in 2010, called ‘Einhaerjar’.
