Gojira hit the studio for a new EP
Gojira are currently in the studio, with producer Logan Mader (former Machine Head guitarist), recording a four-song EP, the proceeds from which will benefit Sea Shepherd, an anti-whaling organization.
Frontman Joe Duplantier said the following in an interview earlier this year;
“We’ll record and produce [four] songs that [we] will sell on our web site without going through traditional ways. The benefits of sales will be donated to Sea Shepherd. There will be guests from the international metal scene [on the record].”
Make the jump to see a couple of pictures from the studio, including some stupid captions from myself.
Sully Erna isn't a Kid Rock but an American Idol fan
To get you started; Kid Rock isn’t an American Idol fan, Steven Tyler isn’t a Kid Rock fan and Godsmack’s Sully Erna isn’t a Kid Rock fan but an American Idol fan.
What is this, Battle of the has-beens? If it is, I don’t think Erna qualifies for it because to become a has-been you have to have had a career of some sort. Bummer.
Anyhow, in response to Kid Rock’s comments, Erna said the following;
“Kid Rock needs to shut up. That’s not true. This is gonna be great for TV, man. It’s supposedly the right thing to do to is to rag on a show like that ’cause it’s so popular, and everybody that has a problem most of the time, they have a problem with something that’s really popular — it’s the envy/jealousy thing; I don’t know what it is. I’m not saying that’s what it is with Kid Rock, because I get along with him fine. But I have to disagree. I think it’s brilliant that Steven Tyler is gonna be one of the judges; I think it’s gonna be so good.”
And when asked what he thought about Tyler’s decision to be part of American Idol, he said:
“I think it’s brilliant. Beyond good. I think he’s gonna be the male Paula Abdul, ’cause he’s a little bit dingy, you know what I mean?! He’s probably all pilled up, and he’s gonna be funny. I mean, he’s witty, he’s really witty.”
Most interesting story of 2010… not. I wonder what Kid Rock has to say about it. Really, I do… not.
Steven Tyler isn't a Kid Rock fan
A couple of days ago Kid Rock called Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler out for his decision to be part of American Idol. Now, at a press conference Tyler said the following, after being asked what he thought of Rock’s comments;
“He’s just jealous, he’s just jealous. And he’s working his new record, so God bless him.”
Video after the jump.
Interesting, eh? What’s more interesting to me is that Tyler, in the above picture, looks like the result of someone crossing an ape and a leather couch.
Interview: Peter “Peavy” Wagner (Rage)
I recently got to interview Peter “Peavy” Wagner, bassist and singer of Rage. How awesome is that?
Special thanks go out to Joe Derschka, who helped in making this possible and proved his patience with me. Check out the interview after the jump.
Review: The Big 4 Live From Sofia, Bulgaria (Deluxe Box Set)
June 22th, 2010 was one of the most metal days in the existence of… everything! The Big Four of Thrash Metal; Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax; not only played the same festival, the Sonisphere Festival in Sofia, Bulgaria, together. No, their performances were also recorded, edited and aired in over 800 cinemas all over the world, where over 100,000 fans watched the spectacle.
Now, a couple of days ago, the Box Set of the event was released. I bought it and shall do a short but to the point review for you within the next couple of minutes. Go on after the jump.
In addition, we will hold a Big Four Week soon (dates to be announced), where we will review each performance in-depth, as well as comparing the DVDs and Blu-Rays of the event and whatever else we can think of.
