Relapse Records sign Rabbits
Yep, you read that correctly. The once fantastic Relapse Records, known for signing brilliant bands like Mastodon and Hypocrisy, have given up on Metal. Instead they have become an animal sanctuary, adopting little bunny rabbits. Frankly, I find this an absolute disgrace. Metal isn’t about disgusting little fluffy animals, Metal should be about blood, Satan, war, sex and murder. So if you’re reading this Relapse records, you’re a bunch of sellouts!
… Oh, someone just informed me that actually Rabbits are just a Metal band Relapse have signed, and I’ve got this all wrong.
If you want to more about Relapse signing a band no one cares about, with a stupid name, check it out here. Personally I wouldn’t bother though, any band with a name like Rabbits isn’t worthy of your time.
Incoming: Aliases
For fans of: Sikth / The Dillinger Escape Plan / Protest the Hero / Between the Buried and Me
If ever a band could be criticized for ending too early, Sikth have to be the worst offender. Releasing two albums in their career, The Trees Are Dead & Dried Out Wait for Something Wild (yes, stupidly long title) and Death of a Dead Day, Sikth were way ahead of their time playing a blend of Progressive Math-Metal and Hardcore, now mimicked by a huge swarm of bands today. Both albums were released to universal acclaim, but alas, it was not to be, and in 2007 both vocalists (yup, they had two, they’re just that damn cool huh?) left the band. The band decided to disband a year later after failing to find replacements.
All that aside, it’s time for a new chapter, and ex guitarist Pin (That’s his name? Yeah, don’t ask me) is back with a new band called Aliases, starting where Sikth left off. The first track from the band, We Should Never Have Met, is a perfect blend of Metal brutality, displaying great promise for future music from the band. I for one cannot wait to hear more music. Bring on the album!

I actually bought this crap: Mudvayne – Lost and Found
Welcome to my very first posting for “I actually bought this crap”. Basically, each week I will delve into my vast CD collection and pull out some of the worst albums I own and then discuss and mock the album in question.
First up this week is:
Mudvayne – Lost and Found (2005)
Review: Stone Sour – Audio Secrecy
For fans of: Slipknot / Nickelcack / Alter Bridge
Following the tragic death of Slipknot bassist Paul Gray earlier this year, the one question on many peoples’ minds has been regarding the future of Slipknot and whether there will be another album. Apparently, looking at many of the recent interviews, this is also not a question that people are too polite to not ask. For the moment, comments by the band members have been conflicting and it’s a case of just waiting and letting them mourn first before asking themselves if they want to re-enter the studio and continue without their friend.
In the mean time however, Corey and Jim’s other band, Stone Sour are back with their third album and I present to you a review of their latest offering. Read on to see what I make of it.
Cradle of Filth unleash new site
The muppets in drag are back, controversial “Metal” band, Cradle of Flith have announced their new album, Darkly Darkly Venus Aversa, will be released this Autumn.
I have to admit, for the longest time I assumed this band had no vocalist and instead opted to make use of a combination of MIDI effects and tortured pigs, but apparently I was wrong. Cradle of Filth do indeed have a vocalist and he’s called Dani Filth (guess his parents didn’t like him too much). Mr Filth has been promising big things from their forthcoming album, going as far as calling it “violently epic” and describing it as like “Iron Maiden on Crack”. One can only assume that means yet another album of combining ripped-off Iron Maiden riffs with the sounds of pigs being raped.
You can check out their new site, with exclusive news on their new album, here.
