Aliases debut released today

Aliases, the SiKth-esque progressive tech metallers, have released their debut album/EP, Safe From Reality, today via Basick Records.

Are you a cheap skate? Well that’s ok, you don’t even need to download a torrent and risk having swat teams blasting their way into your house within 10 minutes to arrest you on grounds of copyright infringement. Basick Records have been nice enough to stream the entire album at this location, and it’s completely legal.

Like the album? Then make sure you buy a copy and support the band and label, it’s only £6.99.

Interview with Dave McClain

Dave McClain, drummer of Machine Head, was recently interviewed by Arthur Kade.

You can view a video of the interview above. In it, I expect Dave discusses the new album, how heavy it is, how it’s the strongest album by the band yet, or it might just be about what Dave had for dinner. I have no idea, I was too busy ‘multi-tasking’ by watching Porn in a different tab.

Unto the Locust, the new album, will be released September 26/27 via Roadrunner Records.

The Weekly Playlist: Better the devil you know

This week the UK has suffered some of the worst riots in recent history. Opportunist thuggery, or the lashing out of a group of people, excluded from society as a result of political and societal elitism. After all, it was Thatcher that taught us that society does not exist. Now is the time people turn to answers for why this happened, and it’s not something I can honestly condemn. Dismissing the last days as mindless violence is futile and will never get us to the root of the problem. Is it a lack of God in today’s Britain (fuck off), a breakdown of family unity, or the reaction to what is essentially a continuous swap between two parties that are nothing but different shades of shit, both of which support the same agenda?

I can’t pretend I have the answers, but what I do have is some honest reviews of some new music. So if you are sick of hearing about riots, sick of hearing from quasi-intelligent individuals discussing the alleged problems and answers to the world’s problems, why don’t we unite in listening to some kick ass Metal? And if that isn’t enough, we can also mock the shit out of some crappy ass music too.

Watch the new Chimaira video

You can view the new video for Chimaira‘s single, ‘Year of the Snake’, above. If you like, you can play a game whilst watching it too – spot the original member. There is still an original member left in the band, right?

‘Year of the Snake’ is taken from the band’s new album, The Age Of Hell, which is due out in the U.S.A. on August 16.

Weekly Dose of Metal: The Absence

The Absence are an American Melodic Death Metal band with Thrash influences, and are noticeable within the genre for being one of the only bands not to rip At The Gates off.

Just kidding, they kind of do. But what’s a few ‘borrowed’ riffs when the bulk of the music kicks ass and the band stand out as masters’ of their craft?

Check out the song ‘Heaven Ablaze’ below, taken from the band’s 2005 debut, From Your Grave, below.
