Big Four jam pro-shot footage

Professionally filmed video footage of the July 2 “Big Four” jam at Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany can be viewed above.

Towards the end of Metallica‘s set, Members of Anthrax and Megadeth joined Metallica on stage for a cover of Diamond Head‘s ‘Helpless’. Slayer weren’t available to take part because Dave was having another tattoo, Kerry was having a wank the band had to travel for their concert on the following night.

[insert prefunctory rant about The Big Four]

Slipknot’s Paul honored at UK Sonisphere

The late bassist of Slipknot, Paul Grey, was honored at today’s Sonisphere festival in Knebworth, UK. A two minute silence was held by the festival at 2pm in honor of Paul, who was known as ‘number 2’ in Slipknot.

In case you’re wondering what two minutes of silence looks like, a video of the two minute silence can be viewed above courtesy of RockAAA. Paul’s bass and red costume and mask were placed at the center stage as other members of the band and their crew stood nearby watching the proceedings.

The greatest band alcohol ever ruined?

Heavy Metal group Nevermore have been referred to as “the greatest band alcohol ever ruined” by vocalist Warrel Dane, in a recent interview for ProgPower USA XII. Yes, even better than the 4 million other Metal bands to be ruined by alcohol (or drugs).

Dane comments that the band are far from over, though, and that there will definitely be a new album at some point. You can view the interview over at Blabbermouth.

Weekly Dose of Metal: With Passion

It probably seems odd, for lack of a better word, to post a ‘Weekly Dose of Metal’ straight after a ‘random dose of metal’, but I guess I’m an odd kind of guy. I mean I’m writing for Dose of Metal, so I have to be. Just ask fellow Dose of Metal writer Alex’s mom.

This week’s edition is all about a band called With Passion, a Melodic Death Metal band from Sacramento, California. They unfortunately broke up in 2007. That’s also the year I broke up with my wife, although I wouldn’t say that was unfortunate… The crappy picture above is unfortunate though, whilst we’re at it, but it’s the best quality photo of the band I could find on the internet, sorry.

The song ‘Train Wreck Orchestra’ is taken from 2004’s In The Midst of Bloodied Soil and can be heard below.
