Has Mike Portnoy been reading Dose of Metal?

According to Blabbermouth, Mike Portnoy spoke to AOL’s Noisecreep earlier this week about his life since he left Dream Theater, the legendary band he co-founded and led for 25 years.

“The thing that breaks my heart,” stated Portnoy, “is that some of the fans rely more on what’s reported about me than what I’m actually saying at the moment. I see all these sensational headlines on certain web sites that misrepresent what I’m doing, and there are fans that react to that without knowing the real truth. I always try to offer sincere, heartfelt explanations through social media sites, and sometimes that gets lost.

Certain websites have sensational headlines that misinterpret what bands and musicians are doing? Well at least Dose of Metal have never been guilty of that *chuckle* Cough.

I’ll be avoiding the internet tomorrow

Just an announcement to all my fans and groupies, that I’ll be leaving the internet tomorrow and won’t be back until Thursday. I’m sorry, I know I’ll be missed, but unfortunately I’ve just heard that Trivium will be releasing a new song tomorrow called ‘Dusk Dismantled’ and as a result, I must flee the wonders of the internet in search and solitude and sanctuary. I suggest you all do the same.

Yes, I know, I know, no one’s forcing me to actually check out the song, but like all writers on the internet I like to exaggerate and generally be a dick.

‘Dusk Dismantled’ will be made available at 11:00 a.m. EST via the band’s official YouTube channel. The new album is also scheduled to come out August 9th, so I’ll probably flee my country then in search of a country that doesn’t sell Trivium CDs. Any suggestions?

Ididdumbshitonce

Louisiana noiseniks iwrestledabearonce have posted a new webisode online which features the band “doing dumb shit” amongst other crap. You can watch the video above, but I wouldn’t advise it. Don’t listen to it, you’ll get hearing aids. Don’t watch it either, you’ll probably get aids of the eyes and will lose all your braincells.

iwrestledabearonce‘s new album, Ruining It For Everybody, is scheduled for release on July 26 via Century Media Records.

Behemoth rehearse

Legendary Behemoths, Behemoth are back rehearsing, for the first time since Nergal’s diagnosis with Leukemia last August. It’s great to hear that the guys are back preparing to take to the stage and kill once again. You can see photos of the rehearsal over at Blabbermouth. They also have some photos of me naked, so be sure to click that link right away.

Nergal commented: “Sooo, first rehearsals after the transplant are under our belts! I didn’t want to get overexcited at first, just wanted to see how things would go, but I have to tell you… the second rehearsal we fuckin’ nailed ‘Ov Fire And The Void’, ‘Lucifer’, ‘Conquer All’ and ‘Antichristian Phenomenon’ flawlessly! One of us even asked, ‘Did we really take a year off from each other?’ Ha ha… it was good times in great company! But the biggest surprise were the songs we NEVER played live ever and planning to do on the upcoming ‘Phoenix Rising Tour’. I won’t reveal any names yet, let it be a mystery ’till we hit the stage, all right?” He added, “In other news, I started jamming out some NEW shit too… too early to give any further comments, but it sounds VERY disturbing and eerie. Can’t fuckin wait to unleash those ideas to my friends…”

That was one long ass quote, but if you’re not creaming your pants in excitement after reading it, you’re simply not Metal enough.

Evanescence will smack you in the face

In a recent interview with MTV, Evanescence frontwoman claims the band’s latest effort, will be the ‘heaviest record they’ve ever done’ (which they totally didn’t say about the last record at all) and “will smack you in the face”.

Funnily enough, if anyone ever played me Evanescence I’d probably smack them in the face, although I must make it clear I do not condone violence at all. Unless, Evanescence‘s music is involved of course.

In seriousness though, putting aside my snide comments, I really must thank Evanescene. Their last album, 2006’s The Open Door, provided me with the perfect Christmas gift for someone stupid that I hate.

Moving on, fans of Evanescence should check out We Are The Fallen instead. They’re also shit, but I just find it hilarious that they contain more original members of Evanescence and sound more like Evanescence, than erm, well Evanescence.
