Friday Top 10: Love songs
People often prejudge Metal as being an “angry” and “monotonous” genre, which is only concerned with noise and aggression. However, I’m going to prove that this isn’t always the case, as the Metal genre also happens to be home to some of the most emotionally mature and beautiful love songs and ballads.
Want to check out a more emotional side to Metal, then get your dose of love after the jump!
Now Playing
Ever seen that trending topic on Twitter #nowplaying? Of course you have, and now you’re seeing me doing it on Dose of Metal. Why? Because I’m so awesome an original, and besides, my opinion rules all.
So without further ado: #nowplaying Evile – Thrasher
Evile‘s ‘Thrasher’ is fantastic, and you haven’t checked it out yourselves, now is your chance. What’s so great about it? Well one, it’s Evile. Two, it’s called Thrasher. And three, erm it’s a great Thrash Metal track and today is Thrash Friday. Ok so Thrash Thursday would sound a lot better, but Friday is the start of the weekend and the time to party, so that’s what I’m going for.
Evacuate London
I’m not even kidding, if you live in London, you may want to evacuate now! Or at least prepare to. Puddle of Mudd (otherwise known as the worst band known to Man, as well as being Fred Durst’s biggest crime against music) have been confirmed as support for The Damned Things at The Borderline on June 8th.
At the moment though, I’m just thanking my lucky stars that at least it’s not a headline show. But seriously people; it’s 2011, why in God’s name do Puddle of Crudd still exist?
More information (in case you want to prepare your escape) can be found at Metal Hammer.
Lacuna Coil recording new album
You know, I used to really really like Lacuna Coil back when I was 16. Well, I say I liked them… Actually I was just at that age where I was thinking with dick; by which I mean, I “liked” Cristina Scabbia. Once I went past the puberty stage, I realized their music was dull and bored me rigid.
So, if you’re male, and between the ages of about 14 and 17, you may be interested in this news. No, Cristina isn’t about to pose nude you pervs, but the band have begun recording a new album. You can get all the information here.
Decapitated are back
Fucking brilliant news. Yeah, I know, you’re all going to tell me that Decapitated never actually went away, aren’t you? I have to be honest though, after the tragic death of drummer Vitek, I kind of lost touch of what these guys were up to I regret to say.
So what are the Death Metal masterminds up to? Well, according to Blabbermouth, the band are back and have been working on a brand new album. The album is called Carnival Is Forever and is due for release on July 12th. The tracklisting can be found after the jump.
And now listen to ‘Spheres of Madness’ to remember why these guys kick so much ass!
