Metal goes acoustic: The Fifth
So in case it wasn’t painfully obvious, my last couple of “Metal goes acoustic” posts were jokes. So if you’re one of the many that thought they were lame and unfunny, you can rejoice in the fact the fifth edition will be a serious one.
This time, I’m posting an acoustic cover of Black Sabbath‘s Planet Caravan. The original was acoustic too, so there’s nothing more original than posting an acoustic cover of an already acoustic song is there? Yeah, you can tell I’m running out of ideas here. The performer however gets bonus points for his nice vocals that accompany the track. Plus the video is nice and clear, and so is the audio, so that’s a nice change from the fuzzy picture and distorted sound you get with many Youtube videos.
Ki$$ are going old $chool
Kiss have obviously run out of ideas here. They’ve tried Kiss branded condoms, toys, footballs, video games, clothing, dolls, and just about every type of money making scheme imaginable. Deciding that everything has been tried, the band have decided to go back into the studio to do what other bands have to do, i.e. write and record music. Well, according to Blabbermouth, the band have begun rehearsing for the new album.
Yeah ok, so I know they also released an album in 2009, and BTW, despite what Kiss fans will tell you, it was shit, but Kiss doing music is still fairly rare.
Metal goes acoustic: Go Fourth
Acoustic Metal fans are in for a real treat today. Today’s cover is the Thrash classic, Break Stuff, originally by Limp Bizkit. Whilst the original was great in its own right, it wasn’t without its flaws. With this cover, done by two guys, those flaws seem to be have completely eradicated. The lyrical genius of Fred Durst is highlighted with the vocals becoming much more prominent in this acoustic mix. In addition, while it may be difficult to believe, but the vocalist manages to be an even better rapper than Freddy D.
Overall, the cover does manage to surpass the quality of the original track, but I do feel it is missing some random beer swilling during the chorus’ and perhaps even some real breaking of “stuff” in the background to accompany the wonderful track. Perhaps I’m just nitpicking though.
Dirty Woman Pain
Pain, forerunners of the current stupidest band name awards, have released a brand new song for streaming on their Facebook page. The song, titled Stupid Woman, comes from the band’s seventh album, You Only Live Twice, scheduled for release on June 3 via Nuclear Blast Records.
Blabbermouth have all the additional information regarding the album, I on the other hand, have nothing but a large ego penis and a self diagnosis for laziness. If you’re wondering who Pain are though, and why you should check them out, they are fronted by none other than Peter Tägtgren of the brilliant Hypocrisy.
Evanescence still exist
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but according to Blabbermouth, not only do Evanescence still exist, but they’re also working on a new album. The band will be entering the studio next week to begin work on the follow up to 2006’s The Open Door.
Of course though, the band contain none of the original members other than frontwoman Amy Lee. Really, they’re like the Gothic Nu Metal version of Guns N’ Roses, just without the cool music. Or attractive singer.
Allegedly the band are going into a more Dance/New Wave/Electronic territory for this release, so expect it to be even worse than their last album, which was of the clichéd “we’re going heavy” approach.
