Slipknot’s Clown has a new project
Just a few weeks ago I was getting very excited at the news of Slipknot‘s DJ releasing his debut solo work, but forget that, because we have even bigger news now. The guy in Slipknot who dresses up as a clown, bashes a trash-can every so often and directs pretentious videos to hide the fact they’re actually rather poor, now has a new project called The Black Dots of Death. The debut album, titled as Ever Since We Were Children is set for release in March.
So mark that in your Slipknot (limited edition) diaries, with your Slipknot pens, ‘knot fans. Personally though, I haven’t heard music this bad since I was a child (perhaps the thought behind the album title?), so you may want to take my advice and not bother.
The shit I couldn’t be bothered to type up can be found at this location.
Incoming: TesseracT
If you haven’t heard of TesseracT before, you can be forgiven, but Prog Metal fans, now is the time to pay attention.
Formed in possibly the geekiest way possible, U.K. Prog Metallers TesseracT started to take shape from internet based communities and a love for Meshuggah. If you think these guys will be just another Meshuggah clone though, you’ll be mistaken, as TesseracT bring their own unique sound to the table.
Gaining praise from Meshuggah, Textiles as well as much of the Metal media, TesseracT have signed with Century Media Records and will finally be releasing their debut album (titled One) in 2011. TesseracT will definitely be a band to watch out for this year.
So, want to check out some tracks from this Prog Metal monster? Just keep reading after the jump.
Chickenfoot Chad talks cymbals
Drummer for the not-so-super supergroup Chickenfoot and Red Hot Chili Peppers, Chad Smith, recently sat down with Drum! Magazine at NAMM to discuss cymbals or something. In particular he talks about the “Holy China” cymbal he developed with Sabian.
It’s interesting stuff really. No, I’m kidding, it really isn’t. With all the recent talks with musicians about their guitars at NAMM, I imagine this is a little like the group of jocks at High School who would discuss their latest hot cheerleader conquests, and then some dork butts into the conversation to discuss the amazing wank he had the other night over the pink Power Ranger.

Dose of Hardcore
So this week, I shall be giving you a nice dosage of Hardcore. No, I’m not talking about Hardcore pr0n, although I must admit, do like my fair share of that. Yeah I know what you’re thinking, but I’m no sexist. I love sex and I love women. Hence my taste for pr0n and the image above.
So what Harcore am I talking about? Well the music of course. Not Hardcore Trance (is there anything lamer?), but the genre of music that formed from the emerging Hardcore Punk bands of the 80’s to aggressive Hardcore bands of the 90s, to the Metalcore acts of the 2000s.
It’s a controversial genre, especially in Metal circles, but this week I shall be offering you 5 tracks that not only shaped the Harcore genre, but that are also damn awesome songs.
Get your Hardcore dose after the jump my friends.
DJ N’ Chats
Ever wanted to chat to DJ Ashba?
Right now 99% of you reading this post will be thinking “who?..”
If you’re one of those 99% of people, congratulations, you’re officially as cool as me, and 99.9% of people in the world. If you know the answer, you probably like bands consisting of ginger egomaniacs and puppets a little too much, but I won’t judge you for it. I’m all for equality, because people with bad taste have rights too.
Anyways, DJ Ashba is the “Guns N’ Roses” guitarist. Well, he’s the GNR guitarist to Axl Rose and about 10 other people (which coincidently is about the same number of people that are in GNR these days). To everyone else, he’s “who?…”
Oh right, the chat right? You thought I’d just ranted for a whole post and forgot the actual story didn’t you? Well, forgotten, no. It’s more that I actually couldn’t care less. You really want to know the details though don’t you? Click here then.
