Jonathan Davis hearts dubstep
We’re huge dubstep-heads here at Dose of Metal, as you must know. Just this morning I made a new song under my dubstep persona (Simmex), it’s fucking awesome and it goes something like “wubwubwubwubwubwub rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr wubwubwubwubwubwub zzzzzzzzzaaaaaoooooooo wubwubwubwubwubwubwub wubwubwubwubwubwub.”
You can’t imagine the joy of me having found this interview with Korn‘s Jonathan Davis, where he explains how their new dubstep/numetal album came to be, the process of it all and shit. It’s gonna influence me so much as an artist. wubwubwubwubwubwubwub
All jokes aside, if you’re the typical metalhead, you probably stopped reading after “Jonathan Davis,” but if you’re in the small crowd that enjoyed Get Up (but probably hated the other song), you might find it interesting, because he explains he wanted to keep the final product 50% electronic, 50% Korn, and 100% you know what. At least they’re not going all dubstep, if that’s any comfort, so you might give the album a shot after all.
Live Review: Rammstein 11-08-2011
It’s not every day I get to write an article like this, so it gives me much pleasure to be the one to bring it to you. Fresh off the start of their Made in Germany 1995-2011 tour, I give you a review of Rammstein‘s latest tour offering.
What’s it like? Actually, here’s the thing: if you’re planning on seeing them on this tour, I’d say the best option is not to read this or any other reviews or watch any clips, because you’ll be spoiling much of the show. In case you don’t care, well, by all means make the jump!
Last person on the way out of Chimaira, please turn off the lights.
Shocking update on the Chimaira front: both guitarists have left the band.
Holy shit.
Here’s what the last man standing (not counting new members who have replaced the original drummer, bass and the keyboard player), Mark Hunter, had to say:
Early in July, we were informed that Rob Arnold [guitar] and Matt DeVries [guitar] would be leaving Chimaira at the end of 2011. Of course, this was a huge blow, but there were no hard feelings. We understand that life invades art, everything runs its course, and we have to take different paths. We respect their decision and wish them only the best. We made heavy metal history together and that is all that matters at the end of the day. ‘Chimaira Christmas 12’ will be their last show, and we’ve been preparing to make it one that you’ll never forget.
I would personally like to thank Rob and Matt for all of their hard work, years of service to Chimaira, amazing songs, and for their friendship. Together we built something special that will remain for generations to come.
I’m looking forward to spending another five weeks on the road with two of the best (and criminally underrated) guitarists in modern metal.
What’s next for Chimaira in 2012? More on that very soon.
Rather than try and make light of unpleasant news, or downplay this by hyping up a new lineup, let’s take a few to honor Rob and Matt. My favorite solo of Rob’s is on ‘The Heart Of It All’ and my favorite riff of Matt’s is ‘The Dehumanizing Process’. I’ll be cranking those today. What about you?
Well, not to be a pessimist, rather simply realistic, this is pretty much the end of the band — both Rob and Matt are involved with Six Feet Under and it is now obvious they were just waiting to end whatever commitment they had to Mark , and the rest of the current lineup is almost all Daath anyway. I seriously doubt Mark would continue the band being the sole original member, and I also don’t see any of the older members coming back.
What’s done is done — it’s up to the band to wrap up the current tour, and we’ll keep you updated with any news.
Sabbath reunion is pretty much official
In a new article posted on Billboard.com, Tony Iommi says the band (Black Sabbath, well DUH) met at Ozzy’s home earlier this year, to see if they are still (probably physically) able to play their shit. He also says he’d like to finally put out a new album, and I don’t really see the Friday announcement being anything other than confirmation of the rumors.
I mean, I doubt that Sharon would hurt her brand (Ozzy) by pissing off the fanbase once again, it would just be a bad business decision. But it’s not like she’s always done right, just look at Kelly Osbourne’s music career. What music career? Exactly.
Regardless, I am actually looking forward to this, so all the best guys, and may you all live in good health for at least a few more years.
Holy shit you guys, Black Veil Brides are rebelling!
Wow, I’d hate to be a parent of a 13 year old teenage girl, because music like this is probably the soundtrack to her life — no one understands her, the cutie goth kid totally didn’t reblog her anti-establishment gifs on Tumblr, and on top of it all, she has to deal with parents who are concerned about her general well being and not being used by the 16 year old sleezeballs who go around wearing Black Veil Brides t-shirts in school and smoking menthol cigarettes during lunch break.
Tough luck sweetie, but at least you can look forward to the new EP by Black Veil Brides, titled Rebels. #occupyhottopic
Hey, one final note, did you notice I managed to make fun of them without mentioning their appearance, even once. I should get a freaking medal.
You can watch two trailers for the EP right after the jump, but you probably won’t. Who can blame you?
