Tuesday Trivia: Napalm Death are educational

This is just too weird not to get a mention on this website. Apparently, there is a clip on YouTube of Napalm Death appearing on a musical/educational TV program.

What’s the big deal about that? Well, make the jump and find out.

Invisible Guitar Hero championship

Air Guitar

Here’s a guitar playing event made for people like me. When I say people like me, I mean people who can’t play the real guitar, and what’s even worse, suck at Guitar Hero as well. So, what is it? It’s the Air Guitar Championship! If you’re in Milwaukee this summer, be sure to check it out.

“U.S. Air Guitar is devoted to taking our nation’s unofficial pastime out of the bedroom and putting it up on the world stage,” said the World Air Guitar Association in a statement this week.

It will all go down on June 8 at 8 p.m., with advance tickets going on sale for $10 on April 8 and costing $12 on event day.

Don’t be fooled, though, just because there’s no real guitar involved, doesn’t mean it doesn’t take talent. It takes a lot of invisible talent. And if you’ve always wanted to impress some invisible chicks, this is your chance. Make the jump to see a video of the current air guitar champion.

North Korea kept their promise

North Korea

North Korea, the band with the silly name, not the country with the silly leader (which I can make fun of because I’m awesome I don’t live there), kept their promise, and yesterday they released their free EP, The Basement Tapes, Vol. 1. Why am I posting this today? Because if I did it yesterday, people would just dismiss the article as a joke.

So, what’s it like? I’ll tell you what’s it like — it’s free! So go over to their download page and listen to it. If I had to be a bit more specific, I’d say it sounds like… Erm… Rock. Too generic? Well, all this guitar music sounds like noise to me and I just drank my milk and I’m ready to go to bed. All kidding aside, it’s not bad at all, so if you’re for some post-hardcore-ish hard rock, give them a chance. You can also make the jump to see a performance video for Master Plan B and the album artwork.

Reign in blood… Shoes?

Reign in Blood SB Dunk High

Is this an April Fool’s joke? After careful research (looking for a date on the original article), I can safely say: no. This is for real. You can soon be dunkin’ in Brooklyn Projects/Nike’s Reign In Blood SB Dunk High shoes. Just don’t expect to see Kerry King doing the same. Nom-nom-nom.

What do these shoes have in common with the Slayer album? Do they make you faster? Not really. Do they rain blood? Maybe, if you kick someone in the mouth with them. But mostly, they share the color scheme with the album’s artwork. Wooooooow. Make the jump to see a video.

Morning cover

First of all, it’s not morning, it’s almost noon, where I am. Which probably doesn’t interest you, but I’m tired, had next to no sleep, can barely keep my eyes open and I have a tough day ahead of me. Which probably interests you even less. Is this post a bit egocentric? Well, I’m at the fourth sentence and I’ll I’ve kept talking about so far is myself.

On topic, we cover metal covers from time to time. Why? Because it covers the lack of news we’d usually be posting about. Here’s a drinking game idea: read this post and drink each time you read “I,” “myself” and “cover.” Michael Jackson metal covers probably need a subcategory of their own. And that’s what we have here, British band Xerath posted a cover of Michael Jackson’s “Speed Demon” online. Who are Xerath? Beats me. What did I think of this cover? Not much, really. Why am I posting it then? Because I write for this site, and you don’t. Drunk yet?
