Bands talk about money

He didn't sell out.

Thanks to this post, I was able to read this post. And you’re reading a repost about it here, which makes me feel like I’m on Tumblr.

Anyway, members of Thursday and a few other (mostly hardcorish, but we don’t discriminate) bands talked about being in the band, and well, having to pay bills at the end of the month like everyone else. It’s a lengthy post, but it’s worth your read, I can guarantee, because I wouldn’t have bothered myself if it weren’t any good.

And while you’re at it, read Guido’s views on metal, popularity and selling out right here.

Tuesday Trivia: Trace metals

Australian War Metal, bitch!

When it comes to metal, it comes in all sizes and shapes. Black, white, old and nu. Actually, that’s the only thing I don’t like about it, you can split hairs all day long and discuss whether a certain band belongs to this or that category.

We don’t split hairs over at Dose of Metal, since we’re pretty simple. It’s either metal, or shit. But if you’re interested to see some of the more bizarre subgenres, make the jump.

Bury your vocalist

Bury Your Dead

Bury Your Dead, who were on hiatus starting from April this year, have started work on their new album with their previous frontman, Mat Bruso. What does this mean? That I was too confused to pick a picture with of the entire band and went with the drummer? That reunions are now happening in a few months time?

Yes, but it also means that there’s no room for Myke Terry, the “current” vocalist. Anthrax-worthy singer juggling. Myke is now focusing on his solo project which you can check out on his website, and you can read more info about this drama here.

Livegarden

Chris Cornell (Soundgarden)

The reunited Soundgarden are really hard at work. Fresh off their latest new-old, but mostly old album “The Telephantasm,” comes the new-old, first ever live album, “Live on I5.” Even this is sort of a rip off, because the album will feature recordings from their 1996 tour. “Sort of” because let’s face it, the band were at their prime back then, so it’s most likely better than anything they can pull off nowadays.

What does the future hold for this band? I see a remix album produced by Timbaland. But even that wouldn’t be anything new.

Review: The Damned Things – Ironiclast

The Damned Things

The Damned Things, the love child of Anthrax, Fall Out Boy and Every Time I Die members, closed the year with their debut release, “Ironiclast.”

About a month after, we avoid the hype and examine whether or not this baby should have been aborted, and if it’s worth your money (or at least your time).
