Holy shit: I actually agree with Def Leppard
There are a few things I’d say to Def Leppard like “Give yourselves a hand… You need it!” or “Throw your hands in the air, I know one of you cares!”.
But there’s one thing I never thought I’d say: “I agree with you!”
First let’s put the quote up in this bitch, then I’ll say why I agree with it. Ready? Okay…
“Primarily, Def Leppard really is a band. It’s five guys and we’re not a revolving door of musicians, which those other bands are. Whitesnake especially — I mean, has anyone actually counted how many musicians have been through Whitesnake? (laughs) I know it’s over 50. It’s ridiculous, and even Dio, like after I left Dio, there were several other guitar players, a couple other drummers, quite a few bass players (and) a couple of keyboard players. Def Leppard, if Steve Clark were alive, he’d still be in the band today. Def Leppard is not the kind of band that just goes out and swaps members.“

I always thought bands who changed members all the time were not really bands. The chemistry between the original lineup makes the band. Changing it ruins that.
I do understand that some members leave, others pass away — shit happens. But bands that habitually change their lineup (like Megadeth or GNR) are pretty much solo projects. Not cool.
I really respect Leppard for being able to stick with their original crew. And I know I crack a lot of jokes about the drummer but I think it’s amazing that he continues to play with them in spite of his little accident. Only a HANDful of bands would keep him after that. Gotta hand it to them. — Sorry, can’t help the puns.
Metallica and Lou Reed will have an album cover
As you may have heard, Metallica‘s amazing secret project is actually a collaboration with Lou Reed. That doesn’t sound amazing at all.
Anyway, no details as to when, how, and especially WHY this album is being released, but Blabbermouth posted some news about a Dutch photographer doing their album cover. Isn’t that nice?
“Metallica and legendary singer and former Velvet Underground frontman Lou Reed have reportedly tapped Dutch photographer, music video and film director Anton Corbijn to take a picture for the cover of their upcoming collaborative album. According to the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, Corbijn and Reed were seen hanging around with Metallica over the weekend in Gothenburg, Sweden where the band performed as part of the “Big Four” concert at Ullevi stadium.“

Yes, you guessed it. Very slow news day.
Crappy amateur footage of Dream Theater
Dream Theater have a new drummer. The old one left.
Want to hear what they sound like with their new guy? Tough luck, the sound on the video above is very shitty. Atrocious even.
But it does mark the second time this band played with Mike Mangini so turn the volume down and try to watch it without getting motion sickness.
I hate cellphone videos.
Lombardo got a new tattoo
If you were present at the Swedish Big Four gig and wondered why no one in Slayer was around for the “Big Four” jam, Lombardo has an answer for you. He was too busy getting a tattoo. No time to worry about fans or anything.
I’ve been to their first jam (pictured above) and it was magical. When I told people what I’ve witnessed, they were envious as shit. To see how Slayer are less and less involved in that is really disappointing. Megadeth and Metallica put their feud aside and Slayer simply can’t be bothered to join in.
I know, I know, there’s always an excuse. Tattoos, traveling arrangements, blah blah… People pay good money to see all four bands live. That jam at the end should be between all four bands — hence the name THE BIG FOUR.
Here’s my message to Dave and the rest of Slayer: The tattoo is pretty cool, Dave. Your disappointing thousands of fans hoping to see all four bands on that stage together — uncool.
New Megadeth album almost finished. Almost.
According to a recent interview with David Ellefson, the new Megadeth album was almost finished. Unfortunately touring got in the way. Dammit.
“We had a ton of ideas and lyrics and things, so the process was really putting it together and then recording that. And we finished that all just this last week right before we came over here — barely [laughs], but we got it done — and so now it’s in our producer’s hands to get it mixed. So he’s working on that, and hopefully — presto — there will be a new album.“

You can watch a video of the interview above after the jump. The interviewing chick is pretty weird looking. I don’t know if I want to sleep with her or just punch her in the face. Maybe both. That’s a compliment by the way.
