Something nu from Dan and Dave
Extra, extra! Read all about it: Dan Spitz and Dave Mustaine had a lunch together. Could this be the beginning of a beautiful relationship? And the end of any sort of quality journalism going on over here?
Well, seems that it is, because the original reporter presumes they had the lunch “after spending all night working at Mustaine‘s studio Vic’s Garage.” And I guess since this was reported on Monday, they spent the previous day praying in a church together somewhere. Harsh? The project’s called Red Lamb, so I think I get a pass.
To all of you not familiar, Dan Spitz, after re-joining and re-leaving Anthrax went on to focus on his personal business (check next Tuesday Trivia for more), but just like AIDS, once he picked up the guitar again, it was hard to remove from his body. So the shortlived project called DeuxMonkey was born, but it didn’t really go anywhere, because their singer left them last month and said he’s gonna sue their asses off if they use any of the stuff he wrote with them. Welcome Dave Mustaine, the savior, who has come in to pick the project up from the ground.
What can we expect form this? In Dave‘s words:
“I heard it and I just went, ‘Oh my God!’ It’s like a cross between, say, Disturbed, Soundgarden and Rage Against The Machine kind of thing. Little bit of some smatterings of Anthrax because of the speed stuff, but it’s much more modern and much more heavy sounding.”
So, not much really. Need I remind which band is Dan‘s favorite? I will. Next Tuesday, bitches.
Papa Roach are teasing you…
Papa Roach used to wear all black because they wanted to look thin didn’t want to be posers and advertise other brands. Today they forgot about all that and they look so emo, I couldn’t even fit Coby’s hairdo in the photo above. In other words, I’ve seen stronger principles on 10 year olds.
But now they have released a trailer for their new video. Yes, seriously.
I’m not gonna lie, it looks pretty good from a technical point of view but it just seems so pointless. Release the whole thing when it’s ready and be done with it.
If you want a trip back in time and go 10 years into the past when these guys were actually popular, make the jump and watch the trailer. Be careful, you don’t want to get too excited, yo.
Judas Priest are rehearsing
Judas Priest (sans K.K.) will embark on a farewell tour this summer so they need to practice, practice, practice. Cause practice makes perfect and they’re a perfect band. Well, would be if K.K. was still in, but that’s just me being an asshole nitpicking.
I have no ending for this post so I’ll just paste some random text from CNN.com:
President Barack Obama renewed his push for comprehensive immigration reform Tuesday, citing America’s legacy as a nation of immigrants and saying that finding a solution for millions of undocumented workers is critical to the country’s common future.
“It doesn’t matter where you come from. What matters is that you believe in the ideals on which we were founded, that you believe all of us are equal,” he said. “In embracing America, you can become American. That is what makes this country great.
Well said, sir.
Titans Eve give away song for free
Do you know Titans Eve? No? But you should! I’ve reviewed their debut album The Divine Equal a while ago and gave it a favorable 4 1/2 skull rating. If that wasn’t reason enough for you to check them out, Titans Eve now gave you a third reason (the second reason being “They kick ass, yo!”) to check out The Divine Equal.
They are giving away a song, called ‘Tides Of Doom,’ off their debut album for free right here. Why are they giving away the song for free? Well, to celebrate their nomination at the Vancouver Urban Culture Awards.
If you want to support the band, go here, go to Step 3, choose Metal Band and vote for Titans Eve. Or don’t if you think the other bands deserve it more. You can also vote for 3 Inches of Blood, Quartered, Bison BC, Gross Misconduct, Archon Legion, Tard, Artep or Muspellheim.
Personally, I voted for Titans Eve but I could also understand if you voted for 3 Inches of Blood. The other bands don’t really ring a bell, as I’m not really up-to-date with Canadian metal. Either way, check out the song because it’s killer!
Avenged Sevenfold release video. World laughs.
Avenged Sevenfold released a music video for the song ‘So Far Away.’ What is this, 1998? I thought music videos weren’t popular anymore.
Anyway, you can watch the video after the jump. But does it pass the awesome test?
– A lot of shots of the vocalist singing and emoting while doing so? Check.
– Some young guys having a good time in the video so that the band fools us into thinking they can relate to the youth? Check.
– Skinny guy drumming on his friend’s back? Check.
– Some guy throwing a drink in his face? Check.
This video has EVERYTHING!!!
