BlackGates release second song

I already love this band. BlackGates just released their second song/demo on Reverbnation yesterday and — just like ‘Seeds Of War’ — this song, called ‘Break,’ kills.

Don’t believe me? Listen to it below. You can also listen to ‘Seeds Of War’ while you’re at it. May aswell enjoy two great songs.

New Týr song

We have never posted about Týr before and now we’re about them two times within one day? Sure! That’s how we roll. At first we ignore you, then we cover you more than any other band.

But joking aside, Týr released a new song off of their upcoming album ‘The Lay Of Thrym’ called ‘Take Your Tyrant.’ Listen to it below or go here.

It’s awesome but don’t take it from me, listen to it for yourself!

Trivial teaser

Remember back in the day when Trivium were a bunch of teenagers and were praised because of their skills? Aaah. I bet they wish they could go back in time, because back then at least they had that. Well, I never bought any of it in the first place, but for all of you who are still interested in them (raise your hands while I use my fingers to count you all), they’ve posted a teaser for their upcoming album.

Black and white? Check. Automatically pretentious because of the first thing I mentioned? Check. Working (?) titles for songs, including “Black” and “Grey?” Inception style check. A song called “Inception” amongst those titles? Check within a check. Metal? Oooops.

Big Four Headlines

You know how we do a headlines post every now and then, summing up lots of news into one post? Well, over the past couple of days, there have been some news on Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth and Slayer so I’m just summing those up in a Big Four headlines post. Awesome, right? In-fucking-deed. Let’s get it on.

Lars Ulrich gave an interview to The Press-Enterprise, talking about the Big Four, Metallica being “pretty adventurous” and ‘tallica’s 30th anniversary. Read it here.

Kerry King gave an interview to The Desert Sun, where he talked about Gary Holt replacing Jeff Hanneman, Slayer’s 30th anniversary (I’m having a déjà vu) and the possibility of Slayer retiring. The link to the interview is down at the moment of me writing this, but you can try it yourself here. Here’s an excerpt of what he said about the retirement question:

“I remember people started hitting us up after ‘Christ Illusion’ — ‘How long do you plan to keep going?’ We are making relevant, good music. We’re still putting on good shows and having fun. That’s what it’s all about.”

King also gave an interview to LA Weekly and shared this interesting tidbit about Jeff Hanneman:

“He’s trying his ass off. He’s been talking about playing [the “Big Four“] show [on April 23 in Indio, California], but I just don’t see how physically he’d be able to do that. I’m just being realistic.”

Read the full interview here. Meanwhile Dave Mustaine is praying for Hanneman. I’m sure that’ll help him.

David Ellefson went down memory lane, visited the birthplace of Megadeth — where he met Dave Mustaine in 1983 — and shot a video. Watch the video after the jump.

Scott Ian gave an interview to The Desert Sun (I’m having a déjà vu once again, what the…) and talked about the Big Four (déjà… ah, fuck it) and about Anthrax being “a better band than we were even in 1987 or 1988”. Read the full interview here.

And now make the jump for that video Ellefson, arguably the nicest guy of the Big Four, shot.

Friday Bloodbath

Fridays have been ruined forever, but that doesn’t mean like you need to replay that song over and over again (like I do) then bitch how it sucks. Here’s something fucking real. Bloodbath have posted a song, “Eaten,” from their upcoming live CD/DVD online, and guess what? If you click that play button above, you can watch it.
