Morning cover
First of all, it’s not morning, it’s almost noon, where I am. Which probably doesn’t interest you, but I’m tired, had next to no sleep, can barely keep my eyes open and I have a tough day ahead of me. Which probably interests you even less. Is this post a bit egocentric? Well, I’m at the fourth sentence and I’ll I’ve kept talking about so far is myself.
On topic, we cover metal covers from time to time. Why? Because it covers the lack of news we’d usually be posting about. Here’s a drinking game idea: read this post and drink each time you read “I,” “myself” and “cover.” Michael Jackson metal covers probably need a subcategory of their own. And that’s what we have here, British band Xerath posted a cover of Michael Jackson’s “Speed Demon” online. Who are Xerath? Beats me. What did I think of this cover? Not much, really. Why am I posting it then? Because I write for this site, and you don’t. Drunk yet?
Korn releases a snippet
Korn released a new snippet online and it’s absolutely fantastic!! — is what I would say if I had any interest in this band, but I don’t.
So how is it? Well, I don’t know, but let me take a wild guess: not good.
Anyway, if you like this band 1) listen to the band below and 2) go kill yourself.
Warning: By clicking play on the player above you will confirm to the world that you like dick.
Who wants free grind?
I may not be a huge fan of Wormrot or Grindcore in general but who could resist downloading an album for free and, on top of that, legally?
Apparently over the past weekend, Wormrot’s new album ‘Dirge,’ which is going to be released on May 3rd, leaked and naturally people started downloading it. Illegally. So Wormrot’s label Earache Records did the only right thing: they joined the people who are giving away the album for free and this time it’s legal. You can get the album here.
I’d download it myself but I already got it as a promo so I couldn’t care less (Yes, that’s the right way of saying it!).
Cannibal Slayer – Pat O’Brien joins Slayer
Pat O’Brien, lead guitarist of Cannibal Corpse, is going to replace Gary Holt of Exodus, who replaced Jeff Hanneman in Slayer. Wait, what?
As we reported last month, Gary Holt of Exodus replaced Jeff Hanneman for a couple of Slayer shows because Hanneman got ill after being bitten by a spider. Holt isn’t going to stay forever, because, you know, he’s the main force of Exodus so he’s got to go back to his guys. That means that Slayer are left with only Kerry King to play guitars and HOLY SHIT! We don’t want that. And apparently the guys in Slayer didn’t want that either so they called Pat O’Brien.
Cannibal Corpse and Pat O’Brien slay so it’s a natural fit. Check out the dates that Holt and O’Brien are going to play with Slayer after the jump.
Nergal is back
We’re really happy to report that Adam “Nergal” Darski, frontman, lead vocalist, guitarist and manager of Behemoth, who has been diagnosed with leukemia in August of last year, is doing good and already planning to hit the road with Behemoth again.
“We want to start rehearsing in, say, six weeks. We’ll be rehearsing all the songs, jam out, and we want to be ready for some shows in a few months. We want to do first shows in Poland in October. I know it’s still six months away, but we’re gonna fuckin’ do it. I am sure about it. It’s been three months since the transplant now, and [my improvement] has been huge. So in three more months, I’ll be ready for it.”

That sounds incredible but that’s what Behemoth’s music was always all about; staying strong and not letting anyone or anything put you down.
