Down and Crowbar sitting in a tree…
So Down were joined by Crowbar bassist Patrick Bruders for a show at The Hangar in New Orleans on 11 March 2011. You’ll probably thinking… Gee, I wish I could see that.
BAM! You’re in luck. You can! The whole concert is available here. If you make the jump, you’ll see a few clips as well, cause we’re awesome like that.
If you’re wondering who made that image above. I did. It’s two crowbars and a Down cover.Pretty amazing, isn’t it? I bet you wish you were me.
Thin Lizzy might return to the studio
Legendary band Thin Lizzy are considering recording a new album. Problem is, they haven’t released anything since 1983.
“That’s the No. 1 question we’re getting from people — are we gonna record some new material? The fans seem to trust this lineup, and I don’t blame them. We’ve kind of jumped this emotional hurdle together. Ricky’s writing some fucking killer lyrics, and with the kind of talent that’s in Thin Lizzy now I think we can pull off a really cool set of tunes“ said Scott Gorham.
Read full interview here.
Sounds like Thin Lizzy is quite a talented band nowadays, huh? Not that Scott is biased or anything. Don’t get me wrong, if they want to record a new album, they should do it. I hope they know they don’t use phonographs anymore though.
When asked if he knows what Pro Tools is, Scott said “Sure, I know how to use hammers and wrenches.”
Listen to the new Cavalera Conspiracy album
One question: When the hell did both Cavaleras get so fat? Seriously, it looks like Max had seven dinners (Get it? Because he’s wearing a shirt of Possessed’s ‘Seven Churches’! Oh… AHAHAHAHA I’m so funny).
Moving on. You can now stream the new Cavalera Conspiracy album ‘Blunt Force Trauma’ on the German Roadrunner Records site here. Listen to it or don’t. What do I care? I’m listening to the special edition of Amon Amarth’s ‘Surtur Rising,’ which I got earlier today. I haven’t listened to the new Cavalera Conspiracy but it can’t be as good as the new Amon Amarth. It just can’t be.
All aboard the Corey train
What did I tell you? Well, I told you a lot of things, but what did I tell you about Corey Taylor? Okay, a lot of bad things. Hint hint, read my last Top 10.
Anywho, Corey Taylor is starting his routine, pumping up the upcoming summer Slipknot shows. In a recent interview with somebody, he said he is “scared to death.” Of what exactly? Did he officially lose his balls and can’t sing Slipknot songs anymore? Is he scared he’s alienating his teeny pop audience by wearing a mask and hiding his pretty face? Nope. He’s scared to play with them because of the “emotion.”
“I’m scared to death. I’m nowhere near prepared for the emotion that’s going to happen. That first show is really going to be the test. That tour for the most part is going to be a test. It’s very hard, man… It’s still reverberating through my life… We’re coming up to the year anniversary of his death, and I still can’t [expletive] handle it.”
Oh [expletive] [expletive] Corey [expletive] [expletive] rubbing [expletive] monkey balls [expletive] [expletive] [expletive] in his face. We all know the emotion is going to be “Holy shit look at this money” and the test is going to be “Can I stand these guys enough to make another album with them?” and the answer will be “Yes.” You decide if it’s a good thing or not.
Get your free Dia De Los Muertos album
Are you guys excited for the new Dia De Los Muertos album!? What, you’ve never heard of them? No, me neither. But don’t worry, because they’re given away their album for free, over at www.DDLM.net, so it’s not like it’s actually going to cost you anything, other than your time.
“We are very proud of finally being able to deliver this album to metal fans from all corners of the globe, regardless of their financial situation. We don’t want your money. True metal has never been about milking money out of the fans. If you like the band, we only ask you to download this album and play it as loud as you can! Metal to the masses!” comments the band’s drummer, lfonso Pinzón.

Dose of Metal attempted translation*: ‘We can’t sell our music, so may as well give it away for free and hope it grabs us some attention and hype, so later down the road we can make money other ways.’
*May not be accurate, or even close to being correct. Come to think of it, I’m not even sure Dia De Los Muertos are really a band. I may have dreamt this after sniffing glue sticks, ’cause I’m hardcore.
