North Korea is releasing a free EP on April 1st. What?
North Korea is releasing a free EP on April 1st. Is this some joke? Seriously? Usually I try to be funny, but I feel like I’m on the receiving end here. Anyway, if this band is for real, then they probably have huge fans in The Devil Wears Prada, who just lost the title of the band with the dumbest name around to these guys. Oh yeah, the band apparently has The Dillinger Escape’s drummer in the line up, if you care. Didn’t think so.
There’s something wrong here…
And here I am again, writing for Dose of Metal, and instead of coming up with my own content, just stealing borrowing the latest news from Blabbermouth, when I stumble on something that really needs the DoM commentary.
So, Aaron Lewis of Staind (Aka the band that should have ceased to exist the second they formed) has been interviewed recently on Michigan’s WRIF 101.1 FM radio station. I’d report on this, but I haven’t actually listened to the interview, because I’m too busy watching porn and eating a shit load of burgers (the only thing I have in common with Aaron Lewis).
So what exactly wrong with the world now? Politics? Corruption? Global Warming? No my friends, something much worse than all those things, I’m afraid. I have just learned that Aaron Lewis’s solo album has entered the U.S. Billboard chart on March 9 at No. 7. Yes, you read that right, it’s not a typo, I said Number 7! Are you fucking kidding me? Either there’s a lot of people with terrible taste, or Aaron Lewis just bought a shit ton of albums. Either way, this news is truly sickening. Look, even the guy in the background of the picture above is laughing at Aaron.
Evile to enter studio
Good news if you have good taste in music (and you should do, you’re reading Dose of Metal for Christ’s sake); Evile, the British Thrash revivalists, have announced they shall be entering the studio this weekend to begin work on their third album.
That should help dilute and destroy the wave of shit music we’ve had recently. Well… a little.
Lead guitarist Ol Drake commented: “This has been one hell of a 2011 already. We’ve been working non-stop on the material for Evile‘s third album since early last year, and the past few months saw the workload pile up drastically. We’re on top of it though.

Did you hear the one about Shinedown and Apocalyptica?
Bad news if you’re a Shinedown fan: You have shitty taste in music!
Also, Shinedown‘s main man Brent Smith did some vocals for Apocalyptica‘s single “Not Strong Enough.” But they had to be removed because of ‘record company politics.’ My first thought was “Damn, that record company’s politics apparently are ‘do not ruin your record'” until I read who replaced him: Doug Robb of Hoobastank.
Suddenly Brent Smith sounds a lot better.
You’ll have to excuse my lack of interest/research on this matter, but I really don’t care. Just thought of the “shitty taste in music” joke when I read this news and had to post it. If you didn’t find it funny, fuck you, you probably listen to Shinedown! OH SNAPPP!!!!1111
Anyways, Blabbermouth has much more info on the matter and the two versions of the song which I’m just way too lazy to embed here.
BYE.
It was all Axl’s fault!
Slash just revealed something in an interview that would have blown your mind… If this was 1995. Unfortunately it’s 2011 so it’s all a big yawn fest.
“No one in the original Guns N’ Roses ever said, ‘Let’s try to put the band back together.’ Also, it’s all about Axl. The reason that everybody left was because in the back of his mind I think that’s the way he wanted it. So the reason why there’s no Guns N’ Roses was because of him. I’ve got nothing to do with it. I quit for the same reason that everybody did. So it’s really his problem.“
Read full interview here.
Wow! So it’s all Axl‘s fault? No… I don’t believe it! Can’t be!
Jesus, when will this shit gonna end? It seems like every other week there’s an interview with a former GNR member about this. Granted, it’s also the reporter’s fault but come on…
I like GNR. I’m not a fan, but their classic songs are great. I didn’t want to see them live last year, simply because they weren’t GNR, more like “Axl & Friends” — But should they reunite with Slash and the old crew, I’d die to see them live.
Mark my words for I am a metal prophet… They will reunite. Maybe not next year or in the next couple of years, but at one point the demand will be too big for them to say no to big paychecks. Besides, Slash seems to be willing to do it. All his interviews on the matter basically say “Axl, if you’re game, I’m game” so it’s all a matter of time.
So fear not. In the end, money always wins. It’s what made all these comebacks and reunions possible. God bless them.
