Randy Blythe speaks on internet censorship, gets our respec’
Sure, we’re there to make fun of Lamb of God and related people every now and then, but after reading the article on Noisecreep where Randy, an anti-piracy advocate slams SOPA on pretty much all grounds and says he’d rather starve than let censorship in through the back door, I felt nothing but respect. I also got a little hard, but don’t tell anyone.
Since it’s related to today’s theme (which is SOPA and apparently the fact that Staind and Godsmack have no ideas left), I’ll cover a few quotes from it:
“Never ever, ever, ever,” states Blythe on whether he’d ever support such legislation. “I would rather starve. I’ve been poor plenty of times. I was poor for a long, long time in this band, literally homeless at times. I’m not particularly worried about getting rich, that’s not why I do this. I make a good living, a lot of people don’t. I’m not a millionaire, but I’m quite comfortable now after 16 years of being in this band.
“I’ve been to China. I know what happens there. I’ve been all around the world to places where you can’t get this and can’t get that and I’m like, ‘Really?’ It seems like such a weird innocuous thing to me coming from America. I refuse to support anything that will further censorship whether it be government or corporate. I mean, we’re being sold enough s— as it is.”
“Would I like to live comfortably in a nice house as an indentured servant or would I like to live in the ghetto as a free man? I’ll take the ghetto any day.”

Staind,Godsmack and Halestorm can’t think of a name for their tour
Blabbermouth reports: Staind, Godsmack and Halestorm are so out of ideas that they can’t even think of a name for a tour. Just kidding of course, they’re actually just letting their fans decide on it. Same shit? Possibly.

Today is kind of black, isn’t it?
In case you are blissfully unaware, today marks quite a specific day in, well, the history of the internet. To protest the upcoming legislation in the US congress (SOPA and PIPA… even the names kinda fucking suck) that could pretty much fuck the internet up as we know it, and to raise awareness of the implications, a lot of websites are going dark today.
Two of the most popular ones probably being the English Wikipedia and Reddit, but a lot of smaller websites are also joining the “internet blackout day.” Some metal sites are also trying to get their reader base familiar with the situation, namely The Gauntlet and Metal Archives (possibly more).
While Dose of Metal is all about freedom on the internet ‘n shit (in fact the website is started by a bunch of people who probably wouldn’t have ever met if it wasn’t for 1) internet and 2) metal), we won’t go to such drastic lengths.
Now, I speak for myself as this hasn’t been discussed internally, but the reasons I’ll personally keep posting today are: 1) seems kind of cocky to stop our website because as much as we’d like to believe it, we’re not really that big and we’d just be attention whoring and jumping on the band wagon; 2) a lot of people who read this website aren’t from the US, and while the bills in question could screw things up for everyone, seems unfair to those people to bother them with something they probably don’t even understand.
Instead, we’ll leave a few links to get familiar with the situation and make your own decision on whether or not these bills are bad, and in case you do find that they suck, there’s plenty of ways you (Americans) can protest this.

Biohazard are preparing for the release of their new album, Reborn in Defiance, the first one in years featuring the original line up of the band. Don’t count on seeing the same line up live, though, because following his work on the album, Evan Seinfeld, the bass player and vocalist for the band, announced his departure. I guess he likes porn more or whatever. Can you really blame him?
North American audience can expect to receive a free copy of the album along with the new issue of Revolver Magazine (comes out this Friday). The rest of you will probably just download it anyway. Assholes.
Meshuggah’s Koloss: details revealed
ThePRP just posted the tracklisting and the album cover for Meshuggah‘s new effort, Koloss, out March 27 (North America), thus confirming previous rumors about the new album name.
