Lars still likes his album
Lars loves to talk about his own albums, and his opinion is that Death Magnetic still sounds good. Why would he be biased? It’s not like it’s his album or anything, totally objective opinion, I’m sure.
“I’m hard-pressed to think of a Metallica record that has lasted as long in the positive department. ‘Death Magnetic’‘s had a good lifespan. We finished it about two and a half years ago. I cranked a couple of songs in my car when I was home last time — a couple, three, four songs — and it still sounds… I mean, it’s got great energy, it’s really in your face, and it’s kind of just nutty and lively and cool.“ said Lars while selling a painting.

Well, what can I say… It’s not hard having a ‘good vibe’ about an album if it’s a follow up to ‘St. Anger.’ I mean, come on, by comparison anything would sound great. Even Linkin Park. Well, okay, maybe not Linkin Park… Or Korn… Or any nu-metal band… But still you know what I mean, right? Right?

Rob Zombie Download rumors
System of a Down and Avenged Sevenfold may have been confirmed for 2011’s Download festival this morning, but rumors have been circulating that Rob Zombie will also be playing the festival. This morning, the BBC posted an article about the reformed SOAD playing Download. Within the news post, Rob Zombie was also mentioned as playing the festival, but the article has since been altered. Whether this was a leak or just a bizarre mistake, it is not yet known.
Personally I’m hoping and praying it’s a mistake. View a screenshot of the article prior to it being taken down after the jump.
System of a Down are back
Posting via their official website, System of a Down made a shock announcement this morning. That’s right, they are officially reforming to play some dates next year. I mean it’s not like we already knew that last week, or that the rumor hadn’t been doing the rounds for literally forever, or that they hadn’t basically already “unofficially” been confirmed for 3 major festivals last week.
Posting simultaniously with SOAD’s announcement, the UK’s Download festival also announced that the band will be returning to the UK next year to headline the festival and that this will be a UK exclusive. In case you don’t know what that means, that means if you want to see SOAD and you’re from the UK, then you better go to Download, as that’ll be the only date. A bit like when Faith No More were UK exclusives at Download a couple of years ago, and you could only see them at Download. Well, that and at a show at the Brixton Academy and a “secret” slot and the Reading festival…
The chances are, too, that if you care about this, you will already know about this. So maybe my efforts are reporting this are a little in vain, but remember, you may look cool with all your mates being up to date with all the Metal news, but it won’t help you get a girlfriend.
