Disturbed use music as a weapon

Disturbed are going on tour, with Korn as co-headliners and Sevendust and In This Moment as pizza boys and warm-up acts. The tour is called “Music As A Weapon V.”

Every year we try to up the ante, and this year, by having Korn co-headline, we really think it’s going to be our best tour yet. When the idea first came up, one of the main things both bands agreed upon and wanted to focus on was hitting a lot of smaller markets. It’s exciting to bring a show like this to cities that are usually skipped over on some of the other larger rock tours that only hit the major markets. We have a lot of loyal fans in these cities and we wanted to bring them a show that they deserve. said David Draiman.

For once I’d like some honesty in these statements. How about “Every year we try to up the ante, this year we just couldn’t so we brought in a nu-metal vibe with Korn, hoping nostalgia is bigger than the financial crisis.”

Anyway,  first 1,000 tickets sold get a $5 discount. Does that mean they’re free? I’m kidding, I’m kidding… Oh ah ah ah ah.

Kick the baby remix

Kirk Hammett (Metallica)

We’ve already written about Kirk Hammett‘s incident with the ball and a little girl’s face. Twice. Since we’re so original, we’re going to do it again. Someone must have thought that the only thing wrong with the previous video was the horrible background noise (aka Metallica), so they’ve edited it. Say goodbye to Metallica, say hello to kung-fu movie type of sound effects. Video after the jump!

No AC/DC trading cards

AC/DC

Seriously, trading cards? Has the Pokemon generation grown old enough to listen to AC/DC? Not too sure what I think of this, there are more important things I’d spend my money on (like, I saw this best gift I could buy on Farmville). Official announcement of the project getting frozen:

“We regret to announce that the AC/DC product has been postponed indefinitely. We will let you know if the situation changes. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.”

More info after the jump.

Lots of rumors have been circulating regarding possible headliners, with the following names all being mentioned: System of a Down, Foo Fighters, Muse, Sound Garden, Bon Jovi and Van Halen. We can only hope and pray that most of those aren’t true.

You can follow the organiser, Andy Copping, to get all your Download news straight to your Twitter feed.

Slash and Myles Kennedy get a room

A room to record the next Solo album together in, that is, as according to an interview with The Sunday Mercury, Slash has announced that the next album will have touring vocalist, Myles Kennedy, handling all the vocals this time.

Slash also speaks about the next tour, and how Donington and Download are the best places to play in the world (and of course he doesn’t say that about every place, right?)

Anyways, great news, now I won’t have to listen to that transgender chick from the Black Eyed Peas wailing over the top of Slash‘s riffs.
