The Metallica contest no one wants to win

400 unlucky Metallica fans will attend a performance from Lou Reed and Metallica for some radio station in Germany.

Germany gave us a lot of good music, but they also gave us Tokio Hotel, and let’s not forget David Hasselhoff’s music is popular there (so is Limp Bizkit’s), so let’s take their events with a grain of salt.

Anyway, yeah, people will be able to enter a contest to win tickets to the event, but who really wants to, anyway? We can all go to our local nursing homes with a few Metallica instrumentals, and we’re likely to get better music than Lulu.

The concert will be broadcast on 1LIVE and Metallica.de, and after it’s done airing, the recording will be available on LouReedMetallica.com. In other words, you have three sites you have to avoid.

I will do you a huge favor and will not give more details on the gig. You’re welcome.

Tony Iommi likes to do webchats

Tony Iommi answered some fan questions on LiveStream. Have I watched the clip? Not really.

[insert description about the video above here — insert description about the video above here — insert description about the video above here — insert description about the video above here — insert description about the video above here — insert description about the video above here — insert description about the video above here — insert description about the video above here — insert description about the video above here]

I take ‘lazy’ to a whole new level, fuckers.

Dizzy Reed will make you too dizzy to read

If you ever wondered if it’s silly to blame Guns N’ Roses for making their fans wait a few hours before they take the stage, well, GNR keyboardist Dizzy Reed thinks it’s silly that people worry about that stuff.

It is silly. It’s a rock and roll concert, for Christ’s sake!

Exactly, Dizzy, exactly. It’s a fucking rock concert, not child birth. You are not supposed to wait that long, you go there, see the band, leave.

But hey, don’t want to give Dizzy too much shit, he’s obviously not the reason for the band’s tardiness, but it feels a bit disrespectful playing it off like it doesn’t mean anything — it does, people are tired and want to go home, maybe they even have work the next day. Respect them!

Pay what you want for Invocation’s debut EP

Invocation

I love when bands do things like these. No, this is not about an all girl thrash metal band with a passion for small dicks and they didn’t just invite me to be their roadie. Invocation, a djenty band from UK, have just released their debut EP (available through Bandcamp), and they are offering it on a “pay what you want” basis.

I’m not really in the mood for long rants about the music industry, but this is pretty much the future of (self) publishing. It’s great for you as well. I mean, really, I know some people don’t have lots of money, and buying a piece of plastic for $16 really seems a lot when you compare it to the alternatives (like, you know, getting it for free on torrent sites or whatever), so if you have a problem with this model, you’re simply a douschebag. I mean seriously, if you like their music (and you can check out the stream below) and feel like owning it, at least buy them a cup of coffee.

You can download the EP on their Bandcamp page, or you can stream it below.

Scott Ian wants to take away your internet connection

Scott Ian talked to ‘Broward Palm Beach New Times’ (whatever that is) about music piracy. I guess it’s safe to assume he’s not a big fan of it, eh?

When asked what the punishment for illegal downloading should be, this is what Scott had to say:

You lose your Internet. That’s it, no more Internet for you. Seriously! Like you drive drunk, you lose the privilege of driving. You download illegally, you lose the privilege of having the Internet. The punishment fits the crime. Why these service providers don’t stop the torrent sites and put a consequence on this, I have no idea. Everybody complains about the trillions of dollars being lost, but nobody does anything about it. Believe me, if I could do something about it, I would.

Ya done goofed, guys. If Scott backtraced your downloads, the cyber police will be on your ass! What, don’t know what I’m talking about? Jeez, stop getting laid and spend more time on the interwebz, loser.

Listen, I’m not gonna get into a discussion about piracy. It is bad, it does hurt the industry, and if you do it, at least own up to it: YOU ARE STEALING.

Now I’m not one to judge people who get shit for free, but at least be honest with yourself and admit what you’re doing, and stop disguising it as ‘sharing.’ If you are into sharing, fine, let me borrow your car for a few months. You won’t mind, right? Let’s share!

I hate to quote Lars in these embarrassing times for Metallica fans, but “sharing is only fun when it’s not your stuff.” Make the jump to see the skit I’m quoting from.
