New In Flames video is hot!

Get it, ’cause they’re called In Flames? God, I should be writing for the Huffington Post, with such a natural talent for shitty puns like these.

The song is called Where The Dead Ships Dwell, and it’s obviously about In Flames‘ current moment in their career. You can watch the video above, and I have a feeling it’ll go down well with the Instagram crowd.

Video interview with Joey Belladonna

‘Belladonna’ means beautiful lady in Italian, but you wouldn’t think it when looking at Joey. Maybe this is why he was tackled at an L.A. concert.

Watch the interview above for info on what exactly happened that day. Watch this site for more lessons on the Italian language, and the cultures of the world in general. DoM writers are very, very intelligent.

Metallica employee loves his job

Tracy Calderon is a video technician for Metallica, and apparently he joined the crew when he was 25 — he’s now in his 50s, and still working for the band.

He’s describing his job as ‘the best in the world.’ I’ll say, he probably banged a lot of fat groupies in the early 90s.

Watch the interview above, and realize your sex life sucks compared to the amount of poon rock stars and roadies had.

Metallica’s India gig actually canceled — Alex jinxed it

If you’re wondering about the title, well, I’ve been writing on this site for over a year, and I’ve never seen my own name in the title. This seemed like a good opportunity to feed my (already overinflated) ego.

Anyway, yesterday when I posted about Metallica‘s postponed gig in India, I kinda suggested it wasn’t that bad since it would happen the next day, UNLESS it got canceled for real. Well, either God reads Dose of Metal and decided to pull a little prank on India (as if making Bollywood wasn’t enough of a joke from him), Alex can predict the future, or Alex is God — thus not only does he read Dose od Metal, but he also does the heavenly pranks.

Turns out, God doesn’t exist, so this is just a case of bad luck for Indian Metallica fans. Here’s a statement from the band:

We arrived in Delhi on Friday very excited and ready to play our first show ever in India. […] Immediately at the end of our afternoon press conference, […] we were notified that there was a serious question as to whether the show could proceed with regard to the safety of the concert audience. And our first and foremost concern is always for the safety of you, the fans.”

First concern is the fans’ safety? That’s cool, what about the fans’ taste in music? Is that your concern? I guess not, cause if it was, Load, ReLoad, St. Anger and Lulu would have never happened. But I digress…

Once we, along with […] the promoters of the show, determined that there was a failure of a security barricade in front of the stage that could not be adequately repaired, the promoter reluctantly announced the postponement of the show until Saturday. Unfortunately, on such short notice the promoters were unable to secure a permit for a show on Saturday. Therefore, DNA announced that we would not be able to play in Delhi.

So it was a problem with the barricade in front of the stage? Correct me if I’m wrong, but that sounds like it’s more of a safety concern for the band, not for the audience. Moving along…

We are deeply disappointed with this news as we were looking forward to our first experience in India as much as you guys were.

Read full statement here.

Okay, say what you will about Metallica, but they rarely miss their gigs. Didn’t they travel via ferry when the volcanic ash cloud delayed all the flights? They wouldn’t go to India only to refuse to play a few hours prior to the concert, so it’s the organizer’s fault.

This sucks for the fans who traveled from all over for this gig, and waited hours and hours yesterday. But if there were really safety concerns, better safe than sorry, eh?
