What’s worse than a festival with Limp Bizkit and Staind?
I know, a festival that also has Papa Roach, P.O.D, Puddle of Mudd, and… wait for it… Asking Alexandria! Holy shit, it’s like the 90’s and their metalcore bastard child decided to indulge in an orgy. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were there as well… If you got the Orgy joke, you get 5 points taken from your metal achievements scale.
I have no idea who came up with this brilliant joke fest, but I’m disappointed that they didn’t gas the place or something. I mean come on. Noisecreep has a review that sounds like it was written by a 13 year old girl who had a huge crush on Fred Durst back when she was young and stupid enough to be listening to nu metal, and you can read it here.
To close this pathetic article, I have a hypothetical: If I have a penis, but no one has seen it, does it exist? Having a sort of crisis here, would appreciate a word of comfort. I mean, my life’s already come down to writing about Staind on weekly basis, which is just one step above being in Staind.
Coal Chamber reforms, World asks why?
The once semi-popular 90’s Nu-Metal act, Coal Chamber (known for being Dez of Devildriver fame’s previous band), have reportedly reformed and will be performing Australia’s 2012 Soundwave festival. Presumably, Australia are 15 years behind and are just catching up to the Nu-Metal phase.
If I remember rightly, Coal Chamber had one redeeming factor in a certain red-headed bassist, but unfortunately, according to Blabbermouth, Nadja Peulen will not be part of the 2012 lineup 🙁
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to listen to some more Devildriver…
Jonas Björler talks The Haunted, At The Gates and shit
Greece’s Rock Overdose recently interviewed The Haunted (and At The Gates) bassist Jonas Björler. The chat can now be streamed over at Blabbermouth. Well, in theory it can, but the audio player wouldn’t work for me… Maybe it will for you, I don’t know. Who cares though, right? It’s not like the chat will be remotely interesting anyways…
Benante thinks metalheads are not open-minded
Anthrax drummer and Lady Gaga fan Charlie Benante doesn’t have the nicest things to say about a metalhead’s ability to be open-minded about music.
This is what he said in a recent interview:
“I think the metal scene struggles… how can I put this it without sounding bad- most true metal heads are not the most open minded people when it comes to music. They like what they like and they want that- and you have to deliver that. If you go a little left field, I don’t know man, that’s taking some chances there and you have to deliver. With this record, it is truly a heavy metal record. There’s no other influence on this record other than hard rock and heavy metal.“

I guess he is right, it’s not like we’re the most open-minded people out there, is it? I hate almost every genre out there, and I dislike most rock subgenres.
