Today’s Dose of Metal: Pantera
Remember this? I decided I’m gonna post, from time to time, a song from one of the bands mentioned in that day’s news.
DThis time it’s Pantera‘s turn, because of that awkward Phil interview below. Don’t be fooled by the Kiss thumbnail, it’s really Panfuckingtera.
Anyway, I love this song. I’m not a Reinventing The Steel fan at all, but this song kicks ass. Just listen to the riffs. Linkin Park would have made two albums out of the amount of riffs played in this single song.
The video is pretty funny, too. Albeit a bit cheesy, but that small Dimebag kid always puts a smile on my face (not in that way, sickos!).
Phil Anselmo got interviewed
I’m not gonna lie, I consider Pantera one of the best metal bands of all time. I’ve watched their home videos countless times, Phil and Dimebag were my heroes.
But today’s Phil can barely string a sentence together. He bursts into laughter out of nowhere, he changes vocal pitch, I really have a hard time following him. I guess it’s the vegan lifestyle of orange juice and soya milk, eh?
Anyway, watch the interview above (if you can). He cites Kiss, Iron Maiden and Metallica as his influences and he talks about which instrument he prefers — the mic or the guitar.
Watch it go. Getcha’ pull.
Live Dose of Metal: Iron Maiden
What you see above, is the single reason why I can no longer listen to the studio version of the Iron Maiden classic, ‘Fear of the Dark’.
Rock in Rio by Maiden is one of the greatest live Metal albums of all time, recorded at the Rio festival in 2001. It kicks ass, and the rendition of ‘Fear of the Dark’ is the closest thing to perfection you will ever witness. So click play now, kick back and tell me you won’t be singing along to every single word.
Video of the Week: Hate Eternal
This week’s Video of the Week is the new music video for Hate Eternal’s ‘Lake Ablaze,’ off their new album Phoenix Amongst The Ashes.
You know, I would like to get into detail what this video is all about but I can’t view it because YouTube is being a bitch in my country and doesn’t let me view videos by SME artists. In fact, YouTube isn’t the bitch in this case, the GEMA is but this is not the time, nor the place, to talk about this.
If I didn’t get to watch the video, why did it make Video of the Week, you might ask. Well, simply because the song kicks massive amounts of ass.
There you have it. Now, if you’re not living in a country that forbids you to watch certain metal videos, enjoy the video above. I’m sure it’s well worth it. We’re talking about Hate Eternal afterall.
I <3 Machine Head
Today when I was in town I blew my load. No, I didn’t see a Justin Bieber poster (he is legal right?). I blew my load on Machine Head‘s special edition of 2007’s The Blackening. I’m not entirely sure why, after all, I have had the standard album since the day of release, but fuck it, I bought it anyway.
The special edition comes with a bonus disc full of B-sides and demos that span Machine Head‘s entire career, as well as a live DVD.
The most powerful part of the DVD can be viewed above. Grab a beer and witness one of the Head‘s best performances. Try not to blow your load otherwise you’ll have messy pants to change.
