Video of the Week: Cannibal Corpse
The titletrack of Cannibal Corpse’s eleventh studio album, Evisceration Plague, was released with a video in early 2009. This song just might included the most evil sound known to man. Every riff just screams “I’m evil!” (not “Am I Evil”).
So, enjoy your Sunday. I hope it’s sunny wherever you are and when you blast the song above, the sky turns black. BRUTAL!
Video of the Week: Black Label Society
An obvious choice, for a huge Pan-fucking-tera and Dimebag fan like myself, Black Label Society’s tribute to the late Dimebag Darrell — ‘In This River’ — just had to make Video of the Week sooner or later.
Even though the song wasn’t written with Dime in mind, as it was written prior to his death, the video for this song is probably still the greatest tribute to the late guitar-god. And the song just works perfectly here.
Just sit back, hit play and remember one of the greatest metal guitarists of all time. Getcha Pull.
Video of the Week: Rammstein (at Jimmy Kimmel)
You know, I like Rammstein, but isn’t ‘Du Hast’ the most overplayed song in their repertoire? I know that they haven’t toured in the States in about 10 years but is ‘Du Hast’ a good choice to play, instead of a new song?
They played that particular song on Jimmy Kimmel Live this past thursday and, while I really enjoyed the performance, I’m simply just sick of the song. The band released four albums since then and — even though this might be their most known song — I think this is a poor choice to get back into people’s minds.
I don’t even particularly like their new album, Liebe Ist Für Alle Da (= Love Is For Everyone), but I think I would have prefered them to play a song off that record.
But it is what it is, and I imagine Jimmy Kimmel and his people had a say in that, too. So just watch the performance above and enjoy a lot of fire because that’s what Rammstein are all about. Crazy and fun shows with a lot of fire.
Video of the week: Megadeth
Hello me, meet the real me. And one of my favorite Megadeth songs.
Both me and the real me have a problem though. We don’t really get what this song is really about. Is it about war? Is it about mental illness? Is it about the TSA? The lyrics are so ambiguous that it’s hard to put a finger on what Dave Mustaine is really saying… Either that or I’m stupid. I’d say it’s about war, but you can really argue that it’s about something else entirely. I guess we’ll never know.
But the video is pretty unintentionally funny. Dave’s facial expressions and the way he interacts with himself seem straight out of a SNL skit. A bit too much comedy for such a serious message… Or maybe he’s pulling a reverse Kubrick by using a serious song over comical footage? You just never know with this guy…
What I do know is that Dimebag invented a drink after this song. If you didn’t know that, you obviously haven’t seen Pantera’s home videos. If so, leave this site and don’t come back until you do, metal traitor.
Back when they were still good: In Flames
In case you had forgotten, In Flames once sounded like this. Not bad is it? Now they sound like the ugly offspring of an orgy of awful bands and genres.
So, ok the quality of the live footage is absolutely abysmal, but there just isn’t any beating Old School In Flames (well maybe At The Gates…).
