Weak Recap: Pop a recap in yo ass, fool
Yo yo. From the slums of Shaolin, Dose of Metal strikes again!
We from the streets, yo. Break yo’self!
This Sunday, takin’ on the events of last week, straight from the ghetto — word up.
Sorry guys, just really tired and uninspired, so I went with a ‘street’ approach, just to relate to hip-hop fans who might be magically lost here. Make the jump and see what happened this week.
Velvet Revolver – The search continues
Velvet Revolver are one step closer to finding a new singer (just 20949,09494 steps to go!). The band responsible for terrible GnR rip-off songs have been searching for a singer to join their band for three years.
Apparently, Slash and Duff have been auditioning possible vocalists since Scott Weiland left in 2008. However, a few weeks ago, the band performed a number of songs together in New York — including their only good song ‘Slither,’ with Jimmy Gnecco, vocalist for the band Ours. Who the hell are Ours? Maybe it was meant to be used in the context of “Our(s) singer is leaving to join Guns N’ Poses. If we let him leave, then we might get popular!”
Speaking to Noisecreep, Duff stated:
“None of us have really tried [to find anyone] in the last few years. We’ve all been busy with other things. I think once that whole thing went down with Scott, we thought we’d find a guy right away. Once a few months went by, it was like, ‘Oh fuck.’“
I hope they do get a new singer. Maybe then Kerrang won’t write stories about them anymore! The only reason I read Kerrang, by the way, is because the 12 year old emo girl I abducted reads it, too. See, I’m not deranged.
Dave Mustaine is feeling good after surgery
In spite of the expression on his face above, Dave is feeling better after surgery!
“10/5 was two week check-up. Looks good! Feels great!! Start physical therapy Monday. More Tread Climber until then.“

Good news, I guess. Nothing to add, just happy my little ginger metalhead is feeling good.
Zakk Wylde is grateful
Zakk Wylde remains ‘eternally’ grateful to both Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. Don’t believe me? Here:
“I mean, what more could Ozzy do for me? He introduced me to the world and then on top of it, Mom and the Boss always had me opening up on the Ozzfest and helping me all the time, so I mean, how could I not be eternally grateful to them?“

He calls Sharon ‘Mom’ and Ozzy ‘Boss’? Haha. Awesome.
Anyway, I really respect him for being grateful and not biting the hand that fed him, way too many people simply forget that you were the one who helped them, the moment they get to a high place.
Kudos to you, Zakk. Or should I call you ‘Dad’? Hehe
Why Rex quit Down and joined another band
Rex Brown quit Down, made a lot of fans frown. But at least he’s not Armenian, like System of a Down.
Sorry, I have my poetry class on Sunday, and I need practice.
Watch an interview with Rex’s new band, Kill Devil Hill. Apparently the main reason for his departure is him being around Anselmo for too long, at least that’s how it sounds:
“I was playing with Down a whole bit and I just kind of got tired of the… You know, Philip and I had been together 23 years. And when I first met these guys in January of this year, when I walked in and we played in the rehearsal room, it just clicked.“
Oh, okay. Thought it was because of the injury or something. At least I got to see Down live with Rex still in the lineup. That sort of makes up for my never seeing Pantera live — at least I saw half of it.
Good luck to Rex’s new band, I guess.
