Keep on Shining you crazy diamond

As we reported previously, Shining‘s first ever single (accompanied with a gorgeously graphic video) recently went Gold, proving that cutting yourself doesn’t necessarily have to be “emo”, and can be mainstream and Metal. Wait, how does any of this even work?

Anyways, moving on… After the success of this first single (which, like Simo, I have no idea how to type), the band have announced they have plans to start work on a second video in October. The second single will be the track ‘Tillsammans Är Vi Allt’ (see, I had to copy and paste that), which of course again is taken from Shining‘s seventh album, VII / Född Förlorare.

If you haven’t heard the album yet, listen to it now! It’s one of the finest releases this year, so far, and is great for fans of all kinds of Metal. But for more on the upcoming video, first check out Shining‘s press statement over at their Facebook page.

What I want, is to not hear ‘What You Want’ again

The official video of Evanescence‘s new single, ‘What You Want’, can be viewed above. Check it out and then wash your eyes out with soap. Or save yourself some pain and don’t watch it.

In other news, I just came a little and it hurt. For more on Evanescence and their upcoming third album, however, check out Blabbermouth.

The chosen few choose the chosen few

Metal legends, Judas Priest have yet another compilation album coming out later this year, with it being scheduled for release on October 11.

The collection, titled The Chosen Few, will have a selection of songs chosen by a number of established artists, including Kiss, Ozzy Osbourne, Alice Cooper, James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich and Corey Taylor.

“This is a collection of songs chosen by our friends and respected peers,” Rob Halford tells RollingStone.com. “So we hope all the metal maniacs out there will rock out to the tunes enjoyed by metal legends.”

Yes, you’re right Rob, I will buy the same songs for what is now probably the hundredth time, because Corey Taylor’s name has been slapped in my face. Thank you.

As I Lay Dying celebrate anniversary in style

And when I say “style”, I mean no style what so ever.

The hugely successful As I Lay Dying will soon be reaching their tenth anniversary on the scene, and to celebrate their accomplishments and give something back to the fans who have supported them, As I Lay Dying will be releasing a special album, titled Decas (I think that’s probably Latin for ten, but have no idea since I can’t read).

The album will contain three brand new tracks (cool enough), four cover songs (meh), and five remixes (yuck!). Decas will be out November 8 in North America, and will include covers of Judas Priest and Slayer. The full tracklisting can be found after the jump, along with a picture of a cat for no particular reason.*
