Prepare to be disappointed
I’m not really awaiting this project with much excitement. I don’t know why, it just sounds dull to me. But it has a release date now, and it’s closer than I expected.
Their website, which Simo informed you about, now has “November 1 – North America” and “October 31 – Rest of the world” written on it. I’m no psychic, but I think that means it will be released on October 31 everywhere and a day later in U.S.A. and Canada. Just a hunch of mine.
At least we won’t have to wait long for it, and as the resident Metallica fan, I’ll probably have to review it myself for DoM. Well, time will tell. Hopefully it’s good, but I’m not holding my breath.
Happy birthday Dime!
Today would have been Dimebag’s 45th birthday, had his life not ended tragically 7 years ago. Coincidentally, today is also Fred Durst’s birthday. He was born four years after Dime, but he’s still a very important piece of rock history, just at the other end of the spectrum.
God: It’s August 20, 1966 right now… I think I’m gonna do something special today.
St. Peter: Are you gonna let another priest molest a 10 year old without doing anything about it, even though you are almighty and can pretty much stop pedophilia with one finger snap?
God: What? I do that daily, how would that be specia… Ohh, I see what you did there lmao
St. Peter: LOLZ
God: No, I’m just gonna create the most amazing metal guitarist ever. They don’t know what metal is right now, but they will in a few years… 20 years from now this guy will change metal music forever.
St. Peter: But God, is it really fair to all the other musicians to give all this talent to a single guy in a single music genre?
God: Don’t worry. Four years later I’m gonna give birth to someone who will pretty much shit on everything this guy will have accomplished.
If you were offended by the joke above, don’t worry. I actually don’t believe in God, so that whole conversation couldn’t have happened. Majorlulz.

Review: Rising Pain – War Of Souls
Arizona has brought quite a few great bands to us over the years. For example Nuclear Death, Atrophy and most recently Job For A Cowboy. Rising Pain is a relatively new act (formed in 2002) from Phoenix, AZ and I’m sure they would like to be named among the best metal bands from said state.
To be perfectly honest with you, I have heard of the band before but never got around to check them out. They’ve released two full-lenght records (Existence Is Futile in 2007 and The Essence Of Decay in 2009) so far and this year marks the release of their most recent work, the EP War Of Souls.
I’m going to review that very EP right after the jump, to find out if they are indeed one of Arizona’s finest.
Stage at Pukkelpop Festival fell down, three people reported dead
I wish this was just a funny way of saying that 30 Seconds To Mars are breaking up or something (coincidentally, they are playing this festival), but unfortunately, this is real. A storm crashed a stage at Belgium’s Pukkelpop Festival, and latest reports indicate at least three people have died, and 71 got injured as the result.
Not much to do or say but pay our respects to the unfortunately deceased… R.I.P.
American Head Charge, recharged
I wanted to do a Drawn Together inspired “Now where they at?” where I’d choose a band that’s kind of forgotten, dig up some info and then possibly laugh at them. My laziness sometimes pays off, because I didn’t have to scroll long in my music library, and right under A, I found something — American Head Charge.
If you jump into the DeLorean with me for a second, you’ll remember this band as the one that (somewhat strangely) got lumped with the post 2000 nu metal wave, and that they had more bad luck than people who came early for a Guns N’ Roses show. I am of course, referring to a shitload of band member changes (and the death of their guitarist in 2005), but what shocked me is that completely missing my radar, this band managed to break up in 2009, and actually reunite earlier this year.
I don’t know if I just made your day better or worse (I’m kind of meh since they lost their clown make up a while back, so there’s not much for me to make fun of), but the band is officially back, and as of now, they’re planning a small tour starting in October. You can find more information on their official Facebook page, and you can see two videos that make me think of high school right after you make the jump.
