20 years ago on this day, this happened

And nothing else matters. Just to be clear, the song above is Enter Sandman, so don’t hate on me (and even that simply because it was the first single). So, 20 years ago on this day, Metallica started sucking, or 20 years ago on this day, Metallica made their last good album, OR 20 years ago on this day, Metallica died because they sucked for the past four years and this was the culmination; all depending on which end of the fan/hater spectrum you are.

Now feel free to leave a random note regarding your thoughts on the album, I might read them later when I get home from town completely wasted.

Kiss gives their fans everything they want

Kiss

Except for decent music, new music or old band members. Seriously, just how do they get away by having two guys replace the classic lineup members in their makeup? But I guess the issue at hand is not what Ace Frehley or Peter Criss would want, it’s what a person who still likes Kiss nowadays would want. And hot damn, they apparently want a lot of shit, because according to Pete Stanley:

“People sometimes say, why do you have things like Kiss sleeping bags? Because a fan asked for it. We’re not great merchandisers — we’re great listeners. We give the fans what they want. If that’s a crime, I’m ready for my trial.”

That’s right Pete, you tell them. And again, I don’t really mind them doing all the merchandising, I’d probably buy some of this crap if I were damaged in the head, but saying fans would prefer a sleeping bag to songs or honesty regarding band members. Hmmmmm…

In other nu metal news… Sevendust are still around

Sevendust

Sevendust, the band that wasn’t on my radar even when nu metal was huge and I was a misunderstood teenage girl who listened to Korn on her discman, have announced via their guitar player (Clint Lowry’s the name, hiding behind Korn’s amps is the game) that they are writing a “heavy” new album.

Let me guess, it’s also “back to roots,” “heaviest album yet,” “good,” yadda-yadda…Apparently, these guys have a core group of fans who are still around to buy their albums and talk how this band was actually good and shit like that. Good for them (the band, because they probably weren’t too bright when they chose to play nu metal, and they can use the money), but I never gave two shits. In case you did, leave me your angry message in the comments, I’ll replay it on this week’s Weak Recap, pinky swear.

Can we stop Stillwell?

It’s kinda hard for me, or anyone else in the world for that matter, to take a band that has Fieldy playing a guitar seriously in any way, so I might be feeding the troll here, but… Stillwell has a new video out for You Can’t Stop Me, lulz.

In case you don’t know, consider yourself lucky, because Stillwell is the band featuring Fieldy from Korn on guitars, Wuv from P.O.D. on drums, and two other guys who mistakenly think mixing rock with rap is the IT thing to be doing in 2011. Don’t confuse these guys with nu metal though, because they’re “street metal.” How do I know this? Because I’ve seen them live, and they had a song called Street Metal where they kept yelling “it’s street metal!” over and over again.

Now, while I’m busy going through the video trying to figure out if I can be seen in any of the shots and writing my suicide note, send your last messages and condolences to the rest of the Dose of Metal crew in the comment section.

Watch the new Chimaira video

You can view the new video for Chimaira‘s single, ‘Year of the Snake’, above. If you like, you can play a game whilst watching it too – spot the original member. There is still an original member left in the band, right?

‘Year of the Snake’ is taken from the band’s new album, The Age Of Hell, which is due out in the U.S.A. on August 16.
