Max Cavalera Jr. plays drums

Max Cavalera’s son, Zyon Cavalera (like the Matrix city of the same name), plays drums. And he doesn’t play drums just anywhere, apparently he’ll jam with Cavalera Conspiracy on their July 31 performance in Belgium.

Jeez, I wonder how he got the gig. Did he know someone in the band or something?

I think it’s cool that the kid is also pursuing music, but what the hell is with that name? Did Max watch too much Matrix? Or is he way too old to be born after the first movie came out? Hey, math was never my strongest quality, why do you think I fucking write a blog?

If this kid was in my school, I’d say “Woah!” to him all the time, do some Neo moves, then just punch him and ask him for his rich rockstar dad lunch money. Yes, I’m cool like that.

Jag Panzer is done

Just four months after Mark Briody spoke to us about albums and touring plans, he has announced that his band cannot ‘move forward.’

We are proud of every album we released and the support we’ve received from the heavy metal community.  We’ve played so many places around the world and enjoyed every minute of it but the time has come where we just cannot move forward as a band.

Well, you know, I was never a Jag Panzer fan, but I do remember reading that interview he did with Chris and thinking he had such an positive outlook on his career. Pretty surprised to find out all of that has changed in a matter of months.

But hey, life moves on, hopefully these guys will keep making music — one way or another.

I just can’t help but think how unfair this is.  Jag Panzer – over. Linkin Park – still going strong.

Humble Exodus guitarist is humble

Exodus is the band Kirk Hammett formed before joining Metallica, but you probably knew that. What you probably didn’t know, is that another Exodus guitarist left the band to become a Christian minister (ROFLCOPTER!!).

Anyfuckingway, current guitarist Gary Holt (\o/ GARY HOLT!) was asked about his opinion on the Big Four, or rather, how his band may get overlooked/overshadowed because of The Big Four. His answer may surprise you, cause it’s pretty uncommon humbleness, for a thrash metal musician:

“Interviewer: Does it bother you that bands like Exodus, Testament and Overkill get overlooked at times because of the exposure that the “Big Four” have received?

Gary: Not at all. I’ve never been one of those dudes who sits and complains about who should be where. I’m perfectly happy with what Exodus has accomplished and we continue to push the envelope of thrash metal.”

Read full interview here.

That’s the spirit. Fuck what everyone else is doing, just focus on your own shit. The advice I always wanted to give musicians. A certain ginger frontman could have a thing or two to learn from this guy.

But seriously, Christian minister? MAJORLULZ.

Thin Lizzy’s Hellfest performance is here

Almost an hour of Thin Lizzy live goodness is available in that clip above. Isn’t it nice?

I wanted to write a pun about ‘whiskey in the jar’ but couldn’t really think of any. My first idea was ‘pour me some whiskey in an hd jar,’ so you can just tell how pathetic I am. With a matching sense of humor, I should add.

Anyway, not much else to say, really. Watch it if you want. Or don’t. You’re not my fucking nephew. I don’t care what you do.

Nikki Sixx praises Winnnnnehoussssse

Like everyone else, I was shocked upon hearing news about Amy Winehouse. It’s incredible how such a sober, healthy, beautiful young lady could die such a tragic, cruel and unexpected death.

News flash: Amy Winehouse died like 3 years ago, the last couple of years she looked and acted like a zombie, so let’s not pretend like we didn’t see this coming. I didn’t know this chick nor was I ever interested in her music, so I’m not gonna pretend like I cared just because she’s dead.

When Dimebag died, millions of posers who didn’t even care about Pantera were suddenly ‘big fans’ and were ‘affected’ by it. But hey, people are hypocrites. This is why Google had to make a social networking site that allows you to pick which ‘circle’ of people you want to share certain updates with. We say some things around some people and then become someone else around others.

So just a few months after everyone laughed at Winehouse’s live fuckups, we’re all saddened that this ‘young, talented artist’ is dead. Including Nikki Sixx:

She was a very talented young person that had a lot to give. And unfortunately, as cold as this may sound, some have to die so that the rest of us can live.

Watch interview after the jump.

Wait, what? What does that even mean? In what way has Amy’s death influenced Nikki’s life? How can ‘the rest of us live’ now that she is dead? Unless she was literally holding everyone at gun point, that quote doesn’t make any sense whatsofuckingever.

This isn’t the Matrix, Nikki, where the dead are liquified and fed to babies.
