Bruce Dickinson turns down UK The Voice
Hot off the news of Nergal of Behemoth apparently being offered a slot as a judge on the Polish version of ‘The voice’, Bruce Dickinson has reportedly been asked to be a judge on the UK version of the show, set to debut next year.
Only, Bruce Dickinson turned the offer down and had the following to say:
“That show sounds so crap and demeaning to everyone involved, I took great delight in turning the BBC down. ‘The X Factor’ is appalling enough, it’s no better than ‘Opportunity Knocks’.”

What do I think? Honestly, good for fucking Bruce. I’m not even going to begin ranting against these shows, because I’ve said it a million times before, but is Bruce cynical? All I know is the man has some integrity and good for him for not accepting every shitty offer that comes his way just to gain a wod of cash. Whatever your opinions are on reality talent shows, you have to respect a man for not compromising his views for a bit of publicity and money. Remember, this isn’t the first time Bruce has turned down such an offer. He was also recently asked to judge on Britain’s Got Talent.
Random Dose of Metal: Judas Priest
Each week we post a ‘Weekly Dose of Metal’, but we also post a random Dose of Metal every so often, because we are called Dose of Metal after all. Normally the Weekly dose features some lesser known bands, whilst the random dose features some more established acts.
What’s the point? Well ultimately our opinions kick ass, and we like to think we make a difference to people’s lives around the world, by introducing them to kick ass music instead of the shit they play on radio.
So what’s today’s random Dose of Metal? Well it’s ‘A Touch of Evil’ by Heavy Metal legends Judas Priest. The song is taken from possibly my favorite Priest album, Painkiller, and the song is just full of power and the solo is amazing. The band are currently conning kids around the world into thinking they’re doing a farewell tour, and to be honest, I’m just a little bit gutted that I’m missing out.
Megadeth debut new song live
Love festivals, but just can’t quite make it off your ass to actually go to one? Luckily for you, there are people who pay $250 and up, to stand and watch the festival through their mobile phones and compact cameras, and then post the mediocre footage to Youtube.
Snide remarks aside, the above footage isn’t actually that bad though, and you get to hear the live debut of a brand new Megadeth song, taken from their forthcoming album Th1rt3en. The new song is called ‘Public Enemy No 1’
In other news, Staind called and they want their album name back. As does 1999 and the whole Nu Metal genre.
Coheed and Cambria, Painkillers and Armed Robbery
What do you think when you’re looking at the guy on the right in the picture above? “That guy must be on drugs, I wonder when he’s going to snap and threaten to blow up a store with a fake bomb”? Well, you hit the nail right on the head.
That guy on the right is called Michael Todd and he’s the bassist of Coheed and Cambria, a terrible artsy band that drove the poor guy into an addiction for pain killers. Get it? Because their music is so terrible that poor Mikey’s ears hurt so bad that only drugs could take away the pain.
Of course, I’m fucking with you but only partly. Michael Todd was indeed arrested for armed robbery after he threatened to blow up a store with a fake bomb if they didn’t give him OxyContin, a pain pill. Obviously not just one pain pill but six bottles of pain pills. Why so many? Well, Coheed and Cambria were supposed to open for Soundgarden later on that very day. That’s double the pain.
Todd then fled via taxi but police soon arrested him. Now, who the fuck flees via taxi? That’s pretty much the most stupid way to flee from police, unless you’re Tom Cruise and your taxi driver’s Jamie Foxx.
According to TMZ, he “was charged with armed robbery and unlawful possession of prescription narcotics” and “is being held on $10,000 bail and will be arraigned on Monday morning.” Go to TMZ to read more on that and to see a mug shot of Todd.
Evanescence smacked me in the face
Well, Evanescence promised that their new music would “smack you in the face”, and that’s exactly what listening to the 1 minute 18 second video above, featuring a sample of their new single, does to me. I feel like I’ve been just been smacked right across the face, and honestly, it’s left me in real pain.
I should sue the band for compensation for what they’ve done to my ears too…
The single will be called ‘What You Want’ and will appear on Evanescence‘s third, self-titled album, which is now scheduled for an October 11 release.
