Metallica have their own festival

Guess I was wrong… When Metallica ‘teased’ us with a special announcement, it was not about the 3D movie like I had predicted. They’re actually doing their own festival.

It’s called Orion Music + More and it’s happening in Atlantic City, on 23 and 24 June.

The lineup is pretty shitty, but Metallica is headlining both nights, playing The Black Album in its entirety the first night, then Ride The Lightning the second night. Pretty cool if you like Metallica, but pretty boring if you want a full festival. The other bands are Arctic Monkeys, Avenged Sevenfold, Modest Mouse, and a bunch of other acts I’d never want to see live.

More info and details here and here.

Granted, this is their first one, so maybe the next one will be better. If there will be a next one. It’s just that, if someone asked me about a Metallica festival dream lineup, I’d list the rest of the Big Four, Exodus, Down, that kind of thing. Arctic Monkeys and Modest Mouse? What the fuck?

update: Sorry for screwing up the video, added a 20 minute one which includes the live conference they had on the site. The presenter has to get an award for best facial hair ‘hide your double chin’ illusion attempt. Personally, I’d recommend a diet and exercise plan, but doing a chinstrap over the double chin kinda works too, I guess.

Mustaine Spitz Metal

Remember Red Lamb? Well, their  album is finally out. Seems like Mustaine’s only been co-producing and writing some music and lyrics, but anyhow, you can check it out here. That’s it for now, kthxbye.

New Chimaira line-up releases a brand new song

Bass, Bass. Wir brauchen Bass Bass…

New Chimaira bitches!* They gone all old school german rap on us. And like Martin Luther King, they have a dream. I don’t recognize anyone in the band, but isn’t Chimaira like all new people anyway? Maybe their dream is to get some of the old people back?

*not really

Jesse comes home

Jesse Leach (Killswitch Engage)

It’s official: Following Howard Jones’ departure, Jesse Leach has come back to Killswitch Engage to fill in the vocalist position. He left the original spot in 2002.

Now, I’ve been accused before of not caring about bands I write about, and unfortunately, that’s exactly the case today. I once tried listening to The End of Heartache and not only have I gone to sleep, I think I actually went into a shorter comma. People do tell me Jesse’s stuff with the band is supposed to be more raw ‘n shit, but same people told me the albums with Jones’ weren’t that bad, so I don’t know if I could trust anyone anymore.

You can tell me what a huge asshole I am in the comments section.

Not Ozzy, not Dio, that other guy…

You know that there were more than just two different singers in Black Sabbath over the years, right? I mean, beside Ozzy Osbourne and Ronnie James Dio. No, not Dave Walker. Not Ian Gillan, Dave Donato, Jeff Fenhold, Glenn Hughes or Ray Gillen either. I’m talking about Tony Martin, who actually spent more time with Sabbath than Dio.

He’s often forgotten when people talk about Sabbath, so it kind of made me chuckle when I read the Blabbermouth headline “Former BLACK SABBATH Singer TONY MARTIN: ‘Music Is A Worthless Art These Days’.” Don’t ask, I’m not sure why it made me giggle like a little girl. Maybe because the “Forever alone” meme came right into my mind.

Anyways, you should give this interview a read, which heavymetal.about.com conducted with Martin because it’s pretty interesting. I can’t say that I fully agree with him, but he’s got some interesting points.
