Deutsche Tanzmetal
Nope. Not Rammstein.
German act Eisbrecher are releasing their fifth studio album on February 3. Above, you can see their admittedly not the best song, but it’s a single nevertheless. From the upcoming “Die Hölle muss warten”. I think they’re worth checking out, for those of you who haven’t heard of them until now.
Ghost has written most of next album
One of The Nameless Ghouls from Ghost has been interviewed for Blistering.com and we’re here to bring you the best bit. Answering the question about the progress of the new album, he stated most of the material has been written already:
“Most of the material has been written already.”
Woah. But wait, there’s more!
“Throughout the production and writing, we’ve been using the word “divine” a lot. Whereas with the first album, the sound was slightly “wooden,” we want the new album to be stone and golden in terms of being lavished and divine. So we are trying to paint an even more solemn religion and there’s all sorts of dramatic steps forward. The first album is about the arrival of the anti-Christ, about a coming darkness. The new album will about a current darkness, the presence of the devil, how it relates to divinity and how it’s futile you grasp whatever is divine.”
That’s awesome! I can’t wait for the new album to come out so I can shun it because they got big and kinda sold out. Also, can’t wait to get my new Wayfarers. Keepin’ it hardcore.
SOPA – We asked for opinions
The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) is a very controversial subject. We found that out when we asked 20 musicians, 3 artists, 1 band manager and 1 PR agent for their opinion on the matter, and only 6 of them finally sent us a statement.
We do understand that some people don’t want to comment on the bill though. Not everyone is going to understand and agree with what these people think. They are musicians after all, not average internet users. So their opinion on the matter might split their fanbase into two camps, and we can definitely understand why they don’t want to risk that.
With that being said, with this article we’re trying to give those people a chance to speak on the matter, since they would be affected by it in different ways than most people. Five musicians (including one who is also the director of an independent record label), one artist and finally the writers of this website speak out on the Stop Online Piracy Act and piracy in general right after the jump.
Now, why would our opinion really matter? Dose of Metal and other similar music blogs rely heavily on Youtube and PR agencies distributing music for promotion purposes through one-click hosts. Without that, this site would barely be able to exist in its current form.
Musicians and other artists would face an even bigger challenge, if this bill went through. Just think of all the internet promotion they couldn’t count on anymore.
Keep all that in mind when you’re reading the rest of this story after the jump.
Lamb of God cracks US Top 5 [updated]
OMG you guise, Lamb of God totally sold out. I remember the good old days when I used to listen to them and nobody knew who they were. I feel so betrayed. The Top 5 is a place for Ke$ha, not metal! Metal is meant to stay underground! DEATH TO FALSE METAL!!!!1! Video related.
On a serious, and very fucking awesome note, Lamb of God did in fact manage to crack the US Top 5, selling 52.000 copies in the first week. Great job guys, wish you sell plenty more!
And on another, dead serious note, I think the mashup above is fucking awesome.
Update: Randy Blythe expressed his thoughts and thanks regarding the album sales on Twitter, and I compiled it into a somewhat more readable form. Read it after the jump!
