Down EP details
30 minutes ago Down reveiled the tracklisting of their upcoming EP. The songs are apparently in no particular order, because Phil Anselmo couldn’t remember the order.
“Track listing for upcoming EP. Philip says it’s “a very pure doom metal record”.
In no particular order:
Levitation
Witchtripper
The Misfortune Teller
… The Curse Is A Lie
Open Coffins
This Work Is Timeless”
“Very pure Doom Metal,” huh? Phil said so, huh? He could have said anything really, from Death Metal to Black Metal to Epic Transylvanian Power Folk Metal. You just can’t understand the man’s babbling. He’s probably still talking now, 30 minutes later, so they just posted whatever that thought they could make out from what he said. And I use the word “said” very loosely here.
Oh well, I’m looking forward to it either way. I bet they’ll cleverly call it Down IV, so Anselmo doesn’t get confused.
Shh! There’s a secret in Down!
Apparently there’s more to Rex’s departure from Down than what he said. Something ‘personal’ happened between them, but they don’t want to talk about it.
I know, two former Pantera members split and they aren’t trashing each other in the press? What the hell is wrong with these people?
Anyway…
“It’s really a two-part thing. Part one is that it really kind of ran its course. Part two is kinda personal. I’ll anser any fucking thing you wanna ask me, but certain things are personal. But I spoke to Rex for 45 minutes at the end of last week, and he’s sounding great. […] He’s still a great, great friend.“
Said Kirk “140 characters or less” Windstein. I wonder what Phil had to say. Good thing this is text and not video, cause it would have taken him ages to respond. Anyway…
“Rex is a brother of mine, and we made somewhat of a pact that we would not tread on each other in various interviews. So I’m gonna stick with what is the truth: that he had different ideas about what a band should be.“

So they’re both keeping it quiet? Then it’s anyone’s guess, really. My guess is: Rex and Phil were playing Snap. Phil obviously took 5 minutes each time to yell “Snap!,” making Rex the winner all the time. Phil got annoyed, shit hit the fan.
When asked for a comment, Phil said “Mmm….” and then took 10 minutes to finish the sentence.
Cannibal Corpse torture you!
Are you ready for new Cannibal Corpse? Well, today’s your lucky day! Cannibal Corpse just announced the title of their upcoming album, the artwork and the tracklist of said album. That’s not the big news though, they’ve also released the first single online! In addition, the above making of video was released last week.
First off, the album is called Torture. You can view the artworks and tracklisting after the jump. Why artworks? Well, the album will be released with two different artworks. One for the US market, and another one for the international market.
Listen to the first single, entitled ‘Demented Aggression,’ below. Personally, I already fucking love it. It’s fucking Cannibal Corpse, you know what to expect by now.
Now go ahead, blast the new Cannibal Corpse song and torture your neighbors with it! The album will be released March 13th in the States, March 12th in the UK and March 9th in the rest of Europe.
Beyond Magnetic: Metallica goes plastic
Beyond Magnetic, the EP consisting of Metallica‘s unreleased tracks from the Death Magnetic sessions, will make its physical debut on January 30. The songs were first presented on the 30th anniversary shows (pic related), and the reception of the digital EP was good enough to grant a physical release. Not to mention the band probably wants to leave Lulu as far back in the past as fast as possible, and that the EP sold like three times more in the opening week.
We’re still pumped up after celebrating our 30th anniversary last month with Fan Club members from around the world and by sharing the stage with musicians we have admired all our lives,” say the be band in a statement on their website. “As you may have heard by now, part of the fun on those nights included playing unreleased tracks from the Death Magnetic sessions and after giving them to all Fan Club members for free, those songs have been available on iTunes and other at digital retailers for several weeks. We’ve been feeling all the love and positive vibes beyond our wildest expectations on the mp3 side, so we decided to go “old school” (!!) and also release those four songs on a CD.
You heard that, you dinosaurs? The next time you go get a hip replacement, make sure to stop by the record store and get yourself a “compact disc” (compact my ass, my iPod’s smaller and holds like a gazillion songs).
