Shitty Corey Taylor interview with horrible sound
I’ve seen more professionally looking videos from 10 year olds playing with their dad’s iPhones, so I have no idea who these guys are, but they managed to make Corey Taylor sound even more annoying with their awful sound recording. If you like bad sound and ‘click click click’ noise, well, then you probably listen to Slipknot — so the interview above is for you.
The couple that played Metallica songs at their weddings jammed with Metallica.
Remember the clip above? Two awesome people with a passion for music and Metallica played “Master of Puppets” at their wedding. Metallica invited them to jam with them on their anniversary shows. Isn’t that sweet?
I wish my wife was into Metallica and could play an instrument. Imaginary wives don’t really do much so, tough luck đ

Brian May has tapes of Freddie and Michael Jackson
Brian May apparently has tapes of Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson together. This can be really great or really gross, depending if you’re Rob Halford or not.
“There is a couple of very interesting tapes with Freddie singing with Michael Jackson that we’re looking at. Those kind of things we can work on together and it’s nice that in a sense Freddie is still involved in it.“

Let’s hope ‘singing’ really means singing and isn’t a homoerotic euphemism. Not that there’s anything wrong with that…
Playing with Metallica put a smile on Dave’s face
There’s a headline I never thought I’d read a few years ago. The fact that Dave finally joined Metallica on stage to play some old Metallica songs is amazing. I wished that would happen at the Big Four jams, but it never did. Maybe because the other two bands were there, and playing ‘Tallica songs would have been a bit selfish.
Anyway, Dave finally played with them, and not only that, original bassist Ron McGovney was also on stage. Pretty epic.
So what does Dave think of the whole experience?
“I thought it was cool to be just with Metallica but Ron McGovneyâs up there and Lloyd Grantâs up there. I was kind of like âAlright, well, Iâll bite the bullet. Iâll be cool. This is not so terrible.â I got up there and, you know what, I didnât even notice them. I was having so much fun they werenât even there.“
Haha, even after three decades, he’s still having a go at Ron.
“I didnât even see him the whole time I was up there. It was cool that he was there. He was pretty nervous, too. Ronâs a good guy. I was locked into Larsâ playing and Jamesâ playing. Me and James, we were like the the Toxic Twins back when we played together and we were a very very dangerous duo. And for a moment I think I stirred some of those old feelings up. I saw one of the videos and it looked like he was having fun. I know I was having fun. I had a smile that I went to bed with.“

These are the quotes I wanted to read from Dave for ages. This is what rock is all about, a couple of talented people jamming together. The petty feuds and bullshit comparisons between Metallica and Megadeth were/are idiotic, and although I am guilty of making plenty of those myself, at least I’ve done them for a laugh — people on YouTube took them seriously.
I hope this will happen again, maybe at a show I’ll attend. Either way, it took 30 years, but things are finally okay between the two bands, and that’s pretty awesome.
Remember, no matter what you think of Metallica or Megadeth, you can’t deny that James Hetfield and Dave Mustaine are two of the greatest metal writers of all time. The fact that they were in the same band together once is amazing. The fact that they can perform together for us 30 years later is even more amazing.
Okay, this is getting way too serious for Dose of Metal. Time for a joke… So, how come Dave Mustaine remembered how to play all those songs after all these years? He plays them daily before crying himself to sleep! — I rule.

Geezer Butler joins Dimebash 2012
Dimebag Darrell was one of the most exciting and talented metal guitarists of all time. It’s sad that we lost him in that terrible tragedy in 2004, because I think he had much more metal badassery to offer us, and instead of kicking ass on stage (maybe in a Pantera reunion), all we can do now is remember the good ol’ days when this guy was alive and showing those dubstep/nu-metal pussies how it’s done.
But I digress. Dimebash 2012 is happening, and a lot of great names are taking part. Let’s be honest, a few not-so-great names are in there, also, but Dime liked everybody, so in the spirit of Dime-goodness, I’m gonna let Serj slide.
Anyway, Geezer Butler will also be there, alongside people like Scott Ian, Tom Morello, Phil Demmel, Duff McKagan, Jerry Cantrell, Tim “Ripper” Owens, and others… Sounds pretty awesome.
“Metal guitar legend âDimebagâ Darrell Abbottâs influence on the music community can never be fully estimated, but if the collection of artists and players at this yearâs DimeBash 2011 is any indication, his legacy is as far-reaching and deeper than ever before. On December 14th, the world of hard rock and metal come together in a communion of thunderous songs and stories to tip its collective glass to one of the true masters of not only guitar, but music as a whole.“
Show begins at 8 PM tonight, if you’re lucky enough to go there, make sure you honor Dime by drinking and enjoying metal. Getcha’ pull!
